We did meet one dude with his dog actually. I think he's sold on the idea of an iPaaS....

Software giant Microsoft is in the process of trying to reinvent itself, and part of that reinvention evidently involves acquiring startups that have created..

Damn it! I sure know how to pick 'em! It really is a great app. They'd better not screw around with it!

Long drive.....We were in Mevagissey, but walked down the coast a bit to here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portmellon) and beyond. Great part of the world.

Expect some further mobile enterprise controls from Google - great work guys
VideoGoogle has acquired Divide, a New York-based company that offers a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) solution for corporate environments. Following the acquisition, Divide's team will likely focus on making Android devices more enterprise-friendly. Divide sets up an encrypted workspace so users do not have to worry about privacy or about the company [...]

Interesting...Possible hardware appliance from AWS in the pipeline (if one believes the rumours)

Its believable .. the AWS Storage Gateway appliance today is virtual. I can see having a physical appliance instead providing many benefits.

Day 1 of Google IO

I assume many of you watched the Keynote, but here's some of the day's highlights from my perspective:

- Google Play music all access launched. New subscription steaming music service from Google. Big push on their matching algorithms to find you cool stuff you will like. US only for the time being sadly.

- The revised Android Development IDE does look great, esp. the new layout preview functionality showing you formatting across device styles on the fly.

- Pixel giveaway! Although I don't have a UK power supply yet...so can only use it for a few hours until I can get a suitable adaptor. Doh.

- Automatic hashtagging of G+posts - and then linking to other posts from around the G+ universe is a cool idea, esp. with image analysis.

- Billing increments of 1 minute on the GCE platform is a nice touch. Also launch of super cheap micro instances with predictable performance, 10TB block storage disks, PHP for AppEngine (crazy scaling and global resilience for your website), "advanced routing" - sounds a bit VPC-esque. Also: Compute engine is now open to all, limited beta tag has been removed.

- Session on indoor maps was interesting (think department stores & airports).

- Live demo's are tough! Everything from batteries dying, to shoddy wifi, to loose cabling held things up today. Well done Googlers for soldiering on, :-)
