The five British artists will host masterclasses on the 23rd and 24th of November at the British Council (Lazimpat), where each will train their collaborating Nepali partners in their specfic role for the whole trans-media composition. Basically, the composition will include musicians, whose sound will be looped, photographers whose images will be projected on a screen, videographers who will create video loops, programmers will sync visuals with the music perfromed live by the musicians, marketing people who will communicate with different media sources to get the event publicized. The final performance of everything will on the Inauguration day (25th of November) of Kathmandu International Art Festival, in Patan, the location is to be determined.

George Mac Cullum will be requiring three videographers (who are comfortable with Final Cut Pro, and have access to a camera, a DSLR). These videographers will be shooting video clips during the masterclasses which will be later projected during the performance on the 25th of November. And if the videographers choose to participate during the performance, they will be supervised by George to document the musicians on stage.

Gaynor will be directing the whole collaboration and also creating audio loops that will be used in the final performance. She will be working with musicians, documenting each member in an intimate setting, and then preparing a composition with the musicians for the performance.

Nick Rothwell will work with 3 programmers (programmers will be taught to use Max MSP, and Ableton) Programmers will ensure that everything plays at the right time (visuals with the audio) and work on synchronizing all the different elements of the composition.

Anna Tully will work with 3 photographers. Photographers will take pictures based on the theme of KIAF 2012 and these photographs will be projected during the live performance.

Natalie will work with three individuals that have background in communications and marketing. To have the collaboration covered in various media outlets.

Gaynor also mentioned interest of the person who directed the music for the London Olympics this year. If we can acquire a good internet connection, the person might collaborate during the performance live from London.

In this regard, Nick Rothwell will be teaching participants how to code in MAX MSP, basically hacking into a projection system to make it sync with visual and audio feed at the performance. The participants need not have any experience with MAX MSP, details of the language can be found here:

They are searching for two programmers. If you are interested please contact Mr. Nishcal Oli ( for more details to join.
