We keep talking about empowering women, but are we ready for empowered women. Are (Indian) men ready for empowered women?

It is not going to be about doing the dishes, or the laundry, or taking care of the kids.

An empowered woman may not change her surname to yours after marriage; she might even expect you to change yours, to hers. An empowered woman may even want to give her name to her children. Are you ready for that? Are you ready for empowered women?

That "marathon runner" did not bleed while running to make any point. If you read her interview, she had been practising for this marathon for a year, and even thought of not going for it when she realised that she is on her period. It was a spur of the moment decision, to not worry about a tampon or pad, and just run. And I think that it is admirable. And we (the people) should leave it at that. And there is nothing unhygienic about it; it's not like pee that you spoil everything with litres of it. And if she had decided to go swim, it would've been perfectly alright; you see the water pressure is enough to keep it all in; teenagers are encouraged not to give up swimming during their periods for this same reason. :)

That's the story that came up after a day and half of the actual event. All the first reporting have her on record saying she did to "show solidarity for her sisters back home (which is India) who don't have access to pads and tampons" and other basics. Please read her full interview right after the run in Guardian UK or any other story from the same day. Swimming and even running during your period is totally fine, I can even Zumba while on my period. So many of us do the same, but without any ridiculous antics. And, with a tampon or a pad. We all have our periods but Jagdeep, how is this showing solidarity? Other than getting her picture on the news, what purpose has this solved? I just can't wrap my head round this one. Though I would love to be wrong here. :)

Introduction
As a person, I've never really tried to define myself; I won't start now.

Work-wise, I had aspired to be a theater actor when in college. I used to love to paint and sketch too. Post college, I grabbed the first job I got in a desperate bid to earn and be on my own, and the theater bit slipped my mind. Yes, I am like that.

I created courseware content and design for 13-14 yrs.

Now, I am a Hypnotherapist and a Sound Healer, and still write.
