Thanks for the upload! I have listened to amy Toscanini performances oif thr Ninth. He never did the 1st movement well. He plays it as if it were a mere introduction to the real work. It is always rushed, Rossini-like and impatient (T;s vice when he is not in complete control). The 2nd movement is stable and powerful and the Adagio simply sublime. The intensity and beauty of the strings is matchless. Hard to even imagine a better preformance. Toscanini always did the last movement better than anyone else. Why> Because he conducts it as a supremely well organized set of variations not as a world historical statement of religious humanism. The sequence is tempi is perfect. The cumulative effect is as Beethoven intended. rdmill´╗┐
