Has Google done anything to improve the spam situation since Brian Seely got all that media attention for spamming the Secret Service and FBI listings? Find out in this interview with Map Maker expert +Dan Austin.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our Local U Forums -- a new venue to get help, troubleshoot and just discuss any local search and local online marketing issues you may have. First 50 members pay just $99 per month and we're also taking $50 off the first month's fee if you register before the end of January. We hope to see you in the forums!

IIRC, Foursquare is the only major citation source that offers business owners to pay to claim their listing immediately - instead of waiting days/weeks. I'm sure that revenue is a nice incentive for them continuing the data mining strategy.

+David Mihm sounds really awesome. Not sure if that is a dump question but does that service also make sense for a german biz? Guess the questiin is a bit less technical but considering the different usage pattern of many services.

My second in the series on designing the best location pages for a business website. This one looks at a business with 2 to a dozen or so locations and has multiple examples.

Last call -- only 8 seats remain!

Hi folks: Just letting you know that our Local U Advanced workshop is ONE WEEK AWAY! It happens next Monday in New York City as part of the SMX Advanced conference.

Yes, you can STILL register, but don't delay. As of this morning, we only had 8 seats still open. If you offer local SEO and online marketing services to clients, or if you're a business owner wanting to take your local marketing to the next level, this is the workshop for you.

Registration details, the full agenda and much more are available at the link below. We hope to see you next week!

Andrew has been one of the thought leaders in Local Search since before I even got into the space (and that was a LONG time ago). His humor and candor make his blog one of the most appealing sites to read in our industry, and his deep knowledge and historical background in the space make him a no-brainer choice for any business lucky enough to retain him as a consultant.

This place is kind of the Sunshine Tavern of Mississippi, so needless to say, I absolutely love it. I usually order the Chuck Roast Plate and broccolini, but they have a real solid burger as well. Great taplist, excellent back patio for summer dining.

Oh man, their Kalua pig is absolutely insane, not to mention the best macaroni salad I've ever had. Love coming here for lunch before the rush & sitting outside at the cafe tables. Really a hidden gem that I hope doesn't get TOO discovered.

Best steak ever. Best restaurant in Portland. Get here early or else you'll be waiting 2+ hours. (They take reservations for 6+ people.) Enough said.

Absolutely LOVE sitting outside here on the weekends enjoying either a Good Life Descender IPA or a nice dry white wine. Their charcuterie boards are absolutely amazing, although their entrees aren't *quite* up to par with the rest of the experience. Still awesome, though, and an incredible place to get a bite.
