Dear friends.
I just received these photos, Auguste ( +Assi-Ki ) managed to send me from a cyber-cafe.
This is how the +Mindésè Cultural Center, I helped build in Cotonou's suburbs, looks like 3 weeks after the flood that hit the area.
There was up to 3m water in some areas. There's still 0,5m in certain places.
Auguste lost everything in his room (furniture, clothes, shoes, bike...) and almost drowned while he was sleeping in his bed.
The Center is out of order and the new recording studio we finished installing last December is lost (console, microphones, speakers, computers...) due to multiple short-circuits and the level of water (that you can see on some photos).

What we've been building for the community, step by step for the last 2 years, is lost, destroyed...

For those who still don't understand the geography of Africa...

Please stop seeing #Ebola everywhere in West Africa and in #Africa

Yes, there is Ebola in Africa, but only/mainly in 3 COUNTRIES where everybody's fighting the virus, so that it gets completely gone soon.
Africa is still standing and life is normal.

Change is needed urgently! That's part of our activities: to educate and empower women.

When women are literate, it's all society that gains. Please support women's right to education on March 8 - Intl Women's Day http://ow.ly/umTXt #IWD2014 #WomenWishes

Answer: this is traditional handmade palm-oil "hard" soap, ideal for washing everything in your home.
Each one is sold 100FCFA (0,15 Euro).
About 350 soaps are produced 2 days/week, and sold on the various local markets.

What is this?
It's made by women in a traditional workshop @ +Mindésè NGO...

Introduction
Mindese is a small NGO based near Cotonou (Benin), helping children who can't access paid schools.
