Architectural plans are underway and we will keep everyone posted as our plans evolve. The big unveiling of our architectural plans (including sponsorship opportunities) will be at our Boot Scoot Benefit on Oct 18th ( If you haven't reserved your tickets yet, we encourage you to do so asap - we are expecting a sold out venue this year! Thank You for checking out my page, my name is Thor and I wanted to tell you a little bit about me. I'm a laid back and easy going. My foster parents say I'm very calm and don't require a lot of activity. Don't get me wrong I love going on walks and running around the back yard playing fetch. I'm just not one of those young hyper dogs, they say I'm mature!!!! I love laying outside and sunning myself and I don't think there is anything better then a nice long afternoon nap on my doggy bed!  So if your looking for a guy like me please fill out an application, I'd love to meet you.

From Thor's Foster Mom:
Thor is the SWEETEST BOY and we adore him. As he mentioned he is very calm and easy going. He has earned our trust and can be left out on his own when we are not home.  Thor is a Rock Star on a leash he loves going for walks! He enjoys  sleeping on his dog bed and take a nap. Thor knows how to play fetch and loves playing with his foster siblings. He loves to give kisses and get belly rubs. He also knows basic commands like Sit and Shake. Thor is also create trained and knows how to use a doggy door! He also does great ridding in the car.  Thor is just an all around AWESOME BOY!!!!

Thor is currently living in a house with 3 dogs, two medium and 1 large and he gets along great with all of them. He would do best in a home without cats as he believes they belong to a secret society.

Thor want's nothing more then to have a family to love and call his own. If you are interested in adopting Thor please fill out an application at  and his foster mom will contact you with in 24 hours.

Thank You for checking out my page and I look forward to meeting you!

Thor is 45 pounds and approx. 6 years old

A message from our president:

After much anticipation the exciting news is ready to be released! In March 2008 the Collin County Humane Society was established by a hand full of volunteers with an undying passion for animals. Over the years the legacy of CCHS outgrew the constraints of our name as we took in animals all over Texas, bordering towns in Mexico, Louisiana, Oklahoma and beyond.

It has been evident that the amazing team that is the driving force behind the success of CCHS needs a name without boundaries. We needed a name that proclaimes the lengths at which we have and will continue to serve as a voice for those that cannot speak for themselves.

As of Aug 2014 it was decided that with the exponential growth of CCHS, we would now be known here forward as Legacy Humane Society, leading a legacy of animal advocacy across Texas and beyond.

We thank you all for your continued support. With the growth of our new name I can assure you that Legacy Humane Society will continue to grow with the morals, integrity and high standards of care that we have provided for all of the fur kids that have entered our program since 2008.

Our name does not signify any change other than our growing ability to help more animals without constraints that were previously limited by our name "Collin County." We look forward to the years to come and further exciting news about our expansion ventures are soon to follow.

Molly Peterson
President, Legacy Humane Society.

Frankie and is brother Didi are special cases here at CCHS...can you share his story and help him find his forever home?

Hi! My name is Frankie - my story began in Georgia a year ago. My family was dumped on the side of the road and a kind passerby took us under her wing. We were adopted soon there after when I was just a baby but my family has severe allergies resulting in my return to the CCHS adoption program.

I love wrestling with my brother, sniffing the yard and playing with my toys. I love sleeping in my crate at night - it's my safe place. I am potty trained and I know basic commands. I'm very playful but I also love to take naps. We are very well socialized with kids and dogs ofall shapes and sizes. We have never met a kitty so I'm not sure how we would react but we're willing to give it a try! I would love to come be a part of your family!

Frankie has been neutered, kept current on vaccinations, microchipped, currenton heartwor preventive, heartworm negative. He did test positive for a non contagious form of ehrlichiosis that they got from a tick carrying the disease. Ehrlichiosis responds well to treatment with the anitbiotic doxycycline (which they are currently on). Improvement in symptoms is usually very quick, but several weeks of treatment is usually needed to ensure a full recovery. Read more about Ehrlichiosis at:
