It's BYOB at this venerable cash-only, BBQ spot with a rustic setting & live music outdoors.- Google
"Grab a sweet tea, skip the sausages, and load up on moist brisket and ribs!"
"BBQ mecca and BYOB... Don't forget to order brisket burnt ends!"

We have been eating salt lick BBQ for years and love it we have even had it at the Austin Airport. What ever you do DON"T have it at the Dell Diamond. It was so GROSS!!!! shaved paper thin brisket served cold and dry but still outrageously priced what a huge DISAPPOINTMENT. The owners of the Salt Lick should take a ride out to the ball park and see whats up with that franchise and train them on customer service, cleanliness and quality. If I were from out of town I would tell everyone I knew that Salt Lick BBQ was over rated and definitely not worth the price of $12 for a sandwich your dog won't eat. Basically it SUCKED!!!!!

Very Over rated tourist trap and way to expensive for the quality of food. Go to almost anywhere else to eat bbq. Brisket tasted like the pork ribs, to much liquid smoke and oven baked. Brisket was chewy and unflavored as well as the pork ribs. The sausage was no better then the cheap H.E.B. smoked sausage from Hillshire farms. Potatoes and coleslaw were very bland and the beans tasted like they are from a can. The turkey was very good it had great flavor but definitely not worth the wait. This place may have been good once but now its just sad. Wait staff was very pleasant.

Over hyped, overrated, tourist trap. It's very famous but we left feeling like we've had better. Went toward the end of the day if that matters. The meat was warm not hot. Coleslaw and potato salad was great. Will not br returning.

Grab a sweet tea, skip the sausages, and load up on moist brisket and ribs! If you like sauces that are on the sweeter side, you'll like their spicy bbq sauce all over everything! Their dessert peach cobbler is fantastic as well!

Oye - what a let down. This was the first BBQ place we stopped into on our BBQ tour of Texas. I appreciated it was such a large space and I guess it could get pretty crowded during peak lunch or dinner hours, but the food itself was a bit overpriced for the portions you get plus a touch too salty. My parents ordered the elderly sausage plate (less food for the elderly/ kids - seemed a bit silly), and I ordered the rib lunch plate. My parents thought the sausage was a bit too salty and the ribs were underwhelming. What is however redeeming was their signature BBQ sauce - I love the tamarind in it. Also, they sell a dry rub (which I managed to score on sale at an HEB later during the trip) which was a bit too peppery when I used for baking/ broiling chicken or pork. It really is good for one thing and one thing only so far - beef on a grill.

Favorite part about the Salt Lick is how they apply BBQ sauce to the meat: With a 5 gallon bucket of sauce and a mop. Never seen anything like it. Grab a picnic table and make some new friends. Can't go wrong with some amazing Texas BBQ. I've been there twice now, and both times the food was amazing.

We drove down to Houston from Minneapolis MN to visit my Daughter and Grandkids and made the trip to the Salt Lick. I would most definitely drive back again. The brisket &Ribs were great. Love it!!!

Food was OK. I have had better at Heavy's in Hondo, Texas. Service was great. But I did noticed that the emergency exit door has a padlock on it. Big safety violation.

The Salt Lick hasn't shared anything with you.
