US plans to scan workers with secret clearances  published by +Stars and Stripes

How long do you think before this is in the contractors space?

"Intelligence officials have long wanted a computerized system that could continuously monitor employees, in part to prevent cases similar to former National Security Agency analyst Edward Snowden. His disclosures exposed secretive U.S. surveillance operations.

An administration review of the government's security clearance process, due this month, is expected to support continuous monitoring as part of a package of comprehensive changes.

Privacy advocates and government employee union officials expressed concerns that continuous electronic monitoring could intrude into individuals' private lives, prompt flawed investigations and put sensitive personal data at greater risk. Supporters say the system would have safeguards."

Great tips by +Peg Fitzpatrick on enhancing your Twitter Strategy

Like some have said, "I miss the days there was only Twitter."

Seriously Boost Your Twitter Strategy
If Google+ and Pinterest are peanut butter and jelly, Twitter is the bread that holds them together.

Twitter was my first social media love and launched my personal passion for social media. While I’ve branched out to other social networks, Twitter remains a steady foundation for my personal social media presence as well as client accounts that I manage

Using Twitter with Google+ is a very smart social media plan. I've gathered Twitter tips from some serious tweeters to help give you some new ideas to boost your Twitter strategy. Or start one! These tips can also work for other social platforms as well.

Tip from +Guy Kawasaki
"Establish yourself as a subject expert. One thing is for sure about Twitter: there are some people interested in every subject and every side of every subject. By establishing yourself as a subject expert, you will make yourself interesting to some subset of people."

Tip from +Jessica Northey
"Be true to yourself, but also try to make Social Media useful for your followers."

Tip from +Ann Tran
"Twitter moves so rapidly that is sometimes hard to keep up.  I navigate intuitively in order to find what is relevant to me and my world.  Sometimes I share content found on Google+ or Facebook, but I’m not always able to respond to every comment."

Tip from +Rebekah Radice
"Don’t focus on the number! A mistake many make when they first sign up is becoming consumed with follower count."

Tip from +Debra Trappen
"Know WHY you are there! Define your voice (sassy, snarky, serious pro…) and topics (wine, dogs, social branding…) THEN start tweeting."

Twitter can be a very fun platform as well as a fantastic boost to Google+, Pinterest, and other networks. I hope these tips give you some inspiration for your social media!

Snowden Asks Putin on Live TV If He Spies on Russians via +Mashable

"Does Russia store, intercept, or analyze, in any way, the communications of millions of individuals, and do you believe that simply increasing the effectiveness of intelligence or law enforcement investigations can justify a place in societies rather than subjects under surveillance?" Snowden asked Putin"

"Mr. Snowden, you are a former agent, a spy. I used to work for the intelligence service, we are going to talk one professional language," Putin said, according to translation by state-run TV channel Russia Today. "We don't have as much money as they have in the States and we don't have these technical devices that they have in the States. Our special services, thank God, are strictly controlled by society and the law and regulated by"

Posted by Confidential Information Found on 30 Percent of Recycled Computers. +DataShield Corporation

This really does not surprise me because I believe most people do not know how to swipe their computers clean.  I think that perhaps a "how to" could be useful to consumers.

Facebook scam promises naked videos of friends, delivers Trojans instead posted by +Help Net Security

Yet, again another Facebook scam. Please do not click on the "naked" videos of your friends. First, I do not want to see any of my friends naked and I am sure you feel the same way.

"The scam, now spreading on the social network, can multiply itself by tagging users’ friends extremely quickly. To avoid detection, cybercriminals vary the scam messages by incorporating the names of Facebook friends alongside “private video,” “naked video” or “XXX private video.”

“When clicking the link that promises videos of their friends naked, users are redirected to a fake YouTube website where a FlashPlayer.exe file deploys a Trojan,” states Catalin Cosoi, Chief Security Strategist at Bitdefender. “A fraudulent web page advises that Adobe Flash Player has crashed and an update to the latest version is required. The malware then installs a browser extension capable of posting the scam on users’ behalf and stealing their Facebook pictures.”

Companies Wrestle With the Cost of Cybersecurity written by +Danny Yadron and +The Wall Street Journal

"The Obama administration stoked the debate earlier this month by issuing new guidelines urging companies in important industries such as energy, banking and telecommunications to do more to protect and monitor their networks, and to train employees.

Companies wrestle daily with the question of how much security is enough. Global cybersecurity spending by critical infrastructure industries was expected to hit $46 billion in 2013, up 10% from a year earlier, according to Allied Business Intelligence Inc."
