The Sun Prairie Public Library is looking for substitute Library Assistant LTEs!

The Sun Prairie Public Library is taking applications for Limited Term Employee Substitute Assistants to fill in for vacancies due to absences.  Assists patrons primarily at the Circulation and Information Desks, and occasionally at the Children's Desk.  Schedule varies greatly; must be available days, nights and weekends.  Experience working in customer service related fields is preferred; library experience is desired but not required.

Discussion & Questions  -
I've got two Sprint Wireless Hotspots that I'd like to lend to my patrons. Anyone else doing this yet? If so, please let me know how you package the device and what your circ policies are. Thanks!

i know that SCLS has a mobile hotspot project in the works (that would be the large scale). i'd be interested to see if any other small libraries are offering this service. it's an incredible deal and the patrons in kewaskum have loved it. although i'm not there anymore, contact the new KPL director, Emily Goad, about the project and see what she has to say about it:

Discussion & Questions  -
Do any libraries or library systems offer online library card registration for patrons? I understand that many of us have policies that make this type of UX "illegal," so I'm not interested in why we DON'T do it, I want to know who is doing it and how it's working and how much to people love it. Contact me at if you'd like to say a bunch of stuff but don't like posting on the googles.

Hi Steev:

Yes, InfoSoup does offer online library card registration.  It's available to all of the libraries in OWLSnet although some use it more than others.  I'd be happy to talk with you about it or give you a referral to a library director who uses it a lot.

Basic Information
Rarely does a day go by when I'm not in the CC either buying a coffee or eating lunch. Unique menu of wraps, sandwiches, soups, pastas--all home-made and some made from local veggies and meat. They get their coffee from Collectivo, a Milwaukee-based coffee roaster, but nearly everything else is made from scratch in their kitchen. They sell art and hand-made stuff from local artisans and have occasional music and poetry events. The only thing not to love is the size--it can get full at lunch time. But they have the best prices and menu of any coffee shop in the area. Get there and have an energy tea, turkish coffee, or the amazing "Kokopelli"--a spicy drink made with Mexican chili peppers.
