TRANSLATION

1) With great enthusiasm I spent my time in the pleasures of mundane learning, and never worshiped Your lotus feet, O Lord. Now You are my only shelter.

2) Reading on and on, my hopes grew and grew, for I considered the acquisition of material knowledge to be life's true goal. How fruitless those hopes turned out to be, for all my knowledge proved feeble. Now I know that all such erudition is actually pure ignorance.

3) All the so-called knowledge of this world is born of the flickering potency of Your illusory energy (maya). It is an impediment to the execution of devotional service to You. Indulgence in mundane knowledge verily makes an ass of the eternal soul by encouraging his infatuation with this temporary world.

4) Here is one person who has been turned into such an ass, who for so long has carried on his back the useless burden of material existence. Now in my old age, for want of the power to enjoy, I find that nothing at all pleases me.

5) Life has now become agony, for my so-called erudite knowledge has proven itself to be worthless ignorance. Material knowledge has now become a pointed shaft and has pierced my heart with the intolerable, burning pain of ignorance.

6) O Lord, there is no treasure worth seeking in this world other than Your lotus feet. Bhaktivinoda abandons all his mundane knowledge and makes Your lotus feet the sum and substance of his life.

1) May Nandisvara Hill, where the Supreme Personality of Godhead, crowned with a peacock feather and splendid as a monsoon cloud, enjoyer of pastimes, delight me.

2) May Nandisvara Hill, rich with the nectar rivers of Krsna's pastimes that please the grass of the living entities in the world, and previously the place of happiness for a great monsoon cloud, delight me.

3) With his son and wife King Nanda lived on Nandisvara Hill. The good-fortune of Nandisvara Hill was never attained by any other mountain. What is tiny Mount Meru in comparison to it? May Nandisvara Hill delight me.

4) May Nandisvara Hill, where the king of Vraja had his capitol of splendid palaces with spires and domes where a peacock could be seen happily dancing among the colourful victory flags, delight me.

5) Krsna sometimes climbs its aromatic summit and sits on a rock, gazing out with thirsty eyes at the twelve forests that are the great petals of the Vrajabhumi lotus spread beneath Him. May Nandisvara Hill delight me.

6) May Nandisvara Hill, which by sprinkling the nectar waters of it's lakes fragrant with lotus flowers defeats the glory of the most exalted holy places in the three worlds, delight me.

7) May Nandisvarah Hill, which has at its base a lake named Pavana that purifies and liberates all its touches with the purifying breeze from its shore, delight me.

8) May Nandisvara Hill, which has at its peak a great and splendid sapphire treasure named Krsna, which was seen by the demigod Brahma, and which may be gotten by the most pious person, delight me.

9) O Nandisvara Hill, O king of mountains, please be kind to they who try to glorify you by reading these prayers. Even if such readers are infested with hundreds of sinful desires, please transform them into great devotees, full of devotion for their spiritual master, and thirsty for the nectar of Krsna's lotus feet.

1) O my Lord Madana Gopala! Govinda! Gopinatha! Be kind to this fallen soul! O Lord, I have fallen in the ocean of material life! Please tie me up with the rope of Your grace and take me along!

2) I am a fallen dog-eater, while You are the merciful Lord - so I have heard from the mouths of the Vaisnavas. I greatly hope that You will take me to Vrndavana, so that I can blissfully see Vamsi-vata.

3) Please take me forwards by pulling me by the hair. Oh Sri Yamuna! Give me the shade of your lotusfeet! For many days I have yearned for this - let me not be disappointed! Please do not play any tricks on me!

4) It is not certain when this temporary body will perish and bodily conscious people just think in terms of 'mine, mine'. Thus they are always afraid of death. Narottama dasa sings: "My heart weeps day and night, afraid that I will then not attain Vraja.

TRANSLATION

1) How much power does the name of Krsna possess? My heart constantly burns in the fire of worldly desires, like a desert scorched by the sun. The holy name, entering within my heart through the holes of my ears, showers unparalleled nectar upon my soul.

2) The holy name speaks from within my heart, moves on the tip of my tongue, and constantly dances on it in the form of transcendental sound.
My throat becomes choked up, my body violently trembles, and my feet move uncontrollably.

3) Rivers of tears flow from my eyes. Perspiration pours from my body. My body thrills with rapture, causing my hair to stand on end and my skin to turn pale and discolored. My mind grows faint, and I begin to experience devastation. My entire body is shattered in a flood of ecstasies.

4) While causing such an ecstatic disturbance, the holy name showers liquid nectar on my heart and drowns me in the ocean of divine love of Godhead. He does not allow me to understand anything; For He has made me truly mad and has stolen away my heart and all my wealth.

5) Such is the behavior of Him who is now my only shelter. I am not capable of describing all this. The holy name of Krsna is independent and thus acts at His own sweet will. In Whatever way He becomes happy, that is also my way of happiness.

6) The holy name is the bud of the flower of divine love, the abode of devotion’s wonderful mellows. Such is the power that He manifests, that although He displays His power only slightly, He reveals His own divine form and qualities, steals my heart and takes it to Krsna.

7) Being fully manifest, the holy name of takes me to Vraja and reveals to me His own love dalliance. He gives to me my own divine, eternal body, keeps me near Krsna and completely destroys this mortal frame of mine.

8) The name of Krsna is touchstone, a mine of all devotional mellows, eternally liberated, and the embodiment of pure rasa. When all impediments to the pure chanting of the holy name are taken away and destroyed, then my happiness will know its true awakening

The internet was in a frenzy when France recently passed legislation making it illegal for stores to purposely waste discarded food. As many pointed out in the comments section of True Activist’s coverage, such an intelligent plan deserves to go global –…
Arash Derambarsh, the local councillor who kick-started the fight against food waste in his own Paris suburb, seeks to convince other countries to follow France's lead and eliminate food waste.

(Refrain) O gopi friend, today I saw a handsome teenage boy in Vraja. The cakora birds of my eyes became wild to taste the sweetness of the moonlight of the moon of His face.

1) He was crowned with the feather of a wild peacock. The fragrance of His jasmine garland made the buzzing black bees wild with bliss.

2) His form was a dark monsoon cloud. His eyebrows were the archer Kamadeva's two bows. From His lotus eyes Kamadeva fired his five arrows. The saintly gopis' hearts were gravely wounded. Their lives are now in doubt.

3) His glistening jewel earrings shaped like Kamadeva's sharks swing to and fro from His ears. The fish of the gopis' hearts gaze at that shark. Now that shark devours those small fish. Govinda dasa thinks in this way.
