We are achingly close to getting to +Grant Howitt's stretch goal on Flotsam - Terpsichore's Vaunt!!
Reasons to back Flotsam:
1. You'll get an RPG that shares out creative input, but in a way that's easy to learn and effortless to play. Our playtesters said "it felt like taking a small step towards GMing" - it teaches you how to play collaboratively.

2. You get a SF game that prioritises character and relationship development. Compelling stories of how the characters grow and change. Personal drama. SF as a vehicle for stories about people.

3. A game that puts your story in your hands. You choose the pace of your character's scenes - you decide when you want action and when you want character interaction. Then your friends deliver it. Nothing is left to chance.

4. A genuinely fresh take on SF. A setting that foregrounds dystopic story elements, featuring characters from the wrong side of the tracks, with aliens, spirits or technology in the background.

5. Ridiculously lovely art. (Just click through to the KS page to see - and we have more examples on the way!)

6. Great support for setting up your game. I've taken lessons from PBTA and created playbooks and situations rich with ideas and potential. You choose the bits you want to incorporate into your group's vision of the world. And these same playbooks and situations are ripe with story jumping off points. Charged relationships; flawed characters; rich character backgrounds. You add your twist on them and your game will start with a bang.

7. Amazing stretch goals. Each is a scenario that will launch your game straight into tense character drama. We already unlocked a scenario by +Emily Care Boss, and more by +Grant Howitt and +Mo Holkar soon. Go and check them out!

8. Fantastic teaching support. The game is designed to be easy to learn and it includes a teaching guide that will take your group through it step-by-step.

We've backed this game - I've read all the John Silence stories and I'm really excited to see the direction +Josh T Jordan is taking this in!
Our supernatural rpg about POC detectives is over 60% funded, but we have less than 3 days to go. Back it now before it's too late.

Awesome that Flotsam has hit the full colour stretch goal!
A Gateway opens

Flotsam is now heading towards our first scenario stretch goal, which is Gateway by +Emily Care Boss. "Gateway is the jumping off point for a newly charted binary system. Will you find your fortune or make a home in this unique crossroads among the stars?" Reading that, I get an optimistic Babylon 5 vibe, but of course this is Flotsam so it will be a different take on it.

I'm so delighted to have Emily involved with this project!

While I'm here, let me explain what the scenarios are. The basic deal with these is, each will contain a set of Primary characters, already created and with charged relationships that are at a turning point; and Situations, rich with setting detail and potential external challenges for the characters to engage with. They enable you to skip an hour or so of setting things up and jump straight into the action, which enables the game to be easily played as a one-shot, or sets you up for a campaign that will start with a bang.

Black Armada's second Kickstarter is on right now!

I'm excited about all our projects - but I really love how this one is trying to make GMing feel as supported and simple as playing. So a great way to try dipping your toe in the water if you have THE FEAR of running a full game.
Now that the sun has cleared the Atlantic, let me once again say: I’m excited to announce that Flotsam: Adrift Amongst the Stars is now live on Kickstarter! Thankyou for all the support and encouragement you’ve given to the project so far.

Flotsam is a roleplaying game about outcasts, renegades and misfits living in belly of a space station, in the shadow of a more prosperous society. You play through their everyday lives, interpersonal relationships and small-scale drama in the Below, a dangerous world where poverty, social strife and gang conflict sit side-by-side with alien technology and supernatural weirdness.

Imagine the Belters of the Expanse watching as Earth and Mars shape their lives, the civilians in Battlestar Galactica living with the decisions made by the military and the folk of Downbelow in Babylon 5, abandoned to destitution and squalor by those who built the station. This game is about characters like that.

The game is GMless and diceless, with rules that point your characters at each other and bring their relationships into sharp focus. They help you create a rich setting, flawed characters, and charged relationships which develop over time. You'll watch your characters evolve and change before your eyes. It's really cool.

_"Josh has put together something really interesting here - there's glimpses of a larger setting through the world, but it only comes out through the lenses of the characters. Very clever stuff." _
- Grant Howitt, co-designer of The Spire RPG

You can get Flotsam for as little as £9 / $12 for the PDF.

I think one of the big effects of GDPR was reminding us that Black Armada had a mailing list that we could use!

If you want to be on it - with free and informed consent then head over hear and sign up.

I don't think we will send things out very often. But if you want to know what we are up to then head on over there.

I'm really excited by what New Agenda Publishing are doing at the moment. If you want to be a part of it then they are looking for Writers and Artists!
Are you into tabletop RPGS?
Have you ever wanted to work on a game?
Are you a member of an underrepresented group in TTRPGs (Person of Color, Woman, Non-binary, Trans, Queer)?
If you answered yes to all three, we’d like to hear from you!* We’re looking for artist and writers to help us finish Orun!

*This does not mean we don’t want to hear from straight white guys, but it does mean you’re a straight white guy and you’re sending in an application, you’re going to have to work twice as hard to impress us half as much.
