I kept losing my Inkscape window offscreen on my Mac, with no way to get it back on screen. I could see it in Mission Control, but if I selected it, it zipped offscreen again.

This page pointed me in the right direction: http://blog.appsocial.ly/post/98167598243/xquartz-windows-lost-off-screen-in-osx-especially but the solution didn't work for me.

However, this did:

brew install homebrew/x11/wmctrl
wmctrl -r Inkscape -b add,fullscreen
wmctrl -r Inkscape -b remove,fullscreen
