Cinco de Mayo is just over a week away and I have you covered on how to throw a party without breaking a sweat. I've made A LOT of tacos in my day and these chicken tacos are my holy grail - perfectly melty and cheesy and spicy and fresh. Just so, so good. Get all the details here:

I've been sleeping on the same hard-as-a-board mattress for eleven years so if I look joyful about making my bed here it's because I fiiiiinally have a new mattress! It's a bed in a box mattress from Solay and so far it is AMAZING in every way. I'm sharing all the details on what sets Solay apart from other bed in a box retailers and why I really, really think you should give them a try (spolier: you can sleep on it for 101 nights and still return for free for a full refund if you don't like it). There's also a 20% OFF CODE to use on ANY MATTRESS, so you REALLY have nothing to lose. Details on everything can be found here:

Today on the blog I'm sharing the step-by-step process I used for turning the ugly steel poles in my basement into stately columns. If you have them, you know what an eyesore they are, but I've got you covered on how to turn support poles into columns. Get all the details here:

Finishing my entryway has been a slow, so far four-years-and-counting, march to completion. Mostly because it's taken me some time to figure out how to work with the checkered floor. It's not all the way there yet but I'm one step closer with the addition of this gold entryway light that is basically all of my lighting dreams come true, including the fact that it's marked down from $1300 to around $300. It's currently on backorder but looks like it'll be available again the end of March! See more of the light here, including sources:

I tried a new apple variety recently (Autumn Glory) and they are crisp and sweet and juicy and taste just a bit like cinnamon. SO GOOD, you guys. I have a new recipe with them up on the blog - roasted sweet potatoes, apples, red onion, and sage. One of those magical dishes you toss together in minutes, pop in the oven, and forget about for awhile. #ad You can find the easy recipe here:

For the first year ever, I thought ahead and got supplies and came up with some ideas BEFORE flying in a mad rush to CVS and buying whatever craft materials and/or pre-made Valentines they had left at the last minute. Head to the blog for a few cute easy DIY Valentines ideas, all using the simplest thing of all - folded paper hearts! There are also twenty-seven other fun Valentines ideas from some of my blogging friends in the post too.

The first two weeks of 2018 have been...mehhhh... Arctic temps, a bomb cyclone snowstorm, the flu... But things are looking up! And to help remind myself of all the great things we accomplished in terms of house projects in 2017 (like my powder room), I took a look back over on the blog, and have included my hopes and plans for house projects in 2018. See it all here:
