Sadly, there is no independent implementation of Flash that's worth a damn.  There's this thing called 'gnash', but it doesn't work very well.

Your best bet is probably to nerf Flash, only running it when necessary from trusted sources.  The NoScript plugin for Firefox does this by default; you click on the region containing Flash content, and it asks you if you want to let it run.  If you say yes, only that component is run.

Ah, the democratization of science!
The view that goes "Your opinion is as good as mine even though I've devoted my life to this single profession, studied as a specialist for 11 years before I could begin practicing, have to submit to profession scrutiny by my peers, hold to a code of professional ethics, study to maintain my certification/license whereas you  just form you opinions based on pop-journalism, the books that Oprah recommends and Dr Phil's pronouncements.   You're anti-science and anti-technology because you don't understand and are intimidated by it and by people like me who have had the humility to apprqch the universe in a rational and methodological -- that is EVIDENCE-BASED -- manner."

I do like the bit about spelling things properly.

One of my favourite 'spoofs' is about Di-Hydrogen monoxide, sometimes known as 'Hydric Acid',  the most extensively used industrial solvent.
Its DEADLY!  Its a major component of acid rain.  And worst of all, its a more potent 'green house gas' than CO2.  Its used in torture by many terrorist groups.

[...] This year, the duo turned to dihydrogen monoxide, warning their listeners that the local water supply is full of the stuff. Naturally, worried phone calls to the local water authority ensued.

The broadcast may have been a joke gone bad, but the underlying problems are anything but a joke. If the public can't even understand a basic chemical formula, then it's probably hopeless to think they'll understand the more complex issues that are typically involved in public health, like complex dose effects and ambiguous epidemiology.

I've had my run-ins with people who don't understand electro-magnetic radiation and want cell towers banned.

Neato #infosec game to play!

I have an idea for a game that infosec professionals can play. It's rock-paper-scissors, but with a twist.

Affordable is pretty much my new best friend in Juneau. I had bought a car that was not in very good condition. They did what they could for me when it broke down and have YET to charge me. They also did not charge me when I sent them another lemon to look over before I bought it. Most recently, I bought their son's car for about half what it's worth. This is my go-to mechanic and I would recommend them to anybody.

Before their current management bought them, this place was excellent. However, we couldn't get out of there fast enough after the new management came in. Most of the residents seemed to agree. Don't even bother.
