Lovely Sunday afternoon playing Jaipur and Sushi Go! with the wife!

Played (and lost...again) Game of Thrones 2nd Edition via Vassal.  It was a VERY slow build-up, especially given it was a 3 player game.  But then the last two rounds?  WOW!

In round 10, Baratheon was leading Stark then Lannister, 6-5-3.  Lannister was pretty much ready to fold.  But after FOUR combats it came down to the Lannisters at Harrenhal trying to overcome the Baratheons at Crackclaw Point.  She came in with overwhelming numbers (Siege Engine and 2 knights) on a -1 march order, while Baratheon defended with one lowly footman (+1 supported by 2 other footmen.  So, going into the card draw, it was Lannisters attacking with 7, Baratheons defending with 4.  Unfortunately for the Lannisters, she was out of cards, except for her 0 power Cersei.  Baratheon came in with 2 power Ser Davos.  However, Stannis was in her discard pile, giving Ser Davos another +1!  Tied!  And since Baratheon topped Lannister on the fiefdom track, it was a Baratheon victory!

Tenth round is over, time to score.

The once mighty Starks (winning just one round before) had fallen mightily down to 4 victory points.  Baratheon and Lannister were tied.

Down to who has the most strongholds....LANNISTERS!!!!

Wow...just an epic, epic game with a great finish.  One of my favorites.

Favorite/least favorite Old One to go up against?

My first two shots at making custom foam core inserts: Eldritch Horror and Game of Thrones 2nd Edition. Suffice to say I learned a lot about what NOT to do from the first attempt. The 2nd try came out nearly flawless. I'd have you guess which is which, but I don't think it'll be that difficult to tell.

First play through of Dead of Winter. Loved it, even though the losses were pulverizing. I know there are many detractors of DoW out there, but in games like these I always espouse the axiom that "you get out of it what you're willing to put into it". Playing up the different roles and the story that evolves through the cards really helps make this an enjoyable experience. The Flying Frog games (Last Night on Earth, Touch of Evil, etc.) have the same feel. When everyone at the table throw themselves into the B movie zombie feel, the game is a riot and even exciting. If you just move and roll, play a card, move and roll, it'll end up being a long night.
