New #edcmchat book chat on Saturday 1st Nov, 21:30 UK time. We're discussing City of the Sun, a Utopian short story from the 17th century by the Italian writer, Tommaso Campanella. In the story, people "learn through observation of their own city... which resembles a huge illustrated encyclopedia, featuring murals and alphabets....a conception of the environment as a pedagogical exercise"

Have a look at this blog post from Elena. I think she raises a very. very interesting point. Is our current language upto describing the new digital cultures that are emerging - or do we need new words to describe them? And who comes up with these new words.
