Wow... Thanks +Mike Elgan , the worst of shame, and a definite answer to something I've always wondered myself...

SHAME: Al Jazeera, Russia Today to cover US 3rd-party debates live; CNN, Fox News and MSNBC to ignore.

Larry King will moderate a debate Tuesday (October 23) between the presidential candidates unconstitutionally excluded from full participation in the election.

Shamefully, CNN, Fox News and MSNBC will not be broadcasting this debate live, but Al Jazeera and Russia Today will. CSPAN is thinking about it.

Even though under the current system so-called 3rd-party candidates have no chance of becoming president, they should be part of all the presidential debates because they raise issues that the two big-party candidates don't want to talk about.

Specifically, there is a long list of issues upon which both parties agree where they will be shafting the American people. This kind of collusion between so-called rivals is illegal for business, but politicians get away with it because they make the rules.

Presidential elections are not about just picking a winner, and ignoring all the views and opinions of those unlikely to win, but about where prospective presidents have to answer sometimes uncomfortable questions about issues they don't want to talk about.

There are only two reason that I can think of why the 24-hour-per-day news networks don't have time to air the views of people running for president, which are 1) they don't want to jeopardize advertising dollars from the two best-funded political parties; or 2) they've decided that nobody cares about losers, so why bother.

Both of these are terrible reasons for news channels to fail in their responsibility to cover the news and inform the voting public.

The scripted, vetted, packaged reality TV that passes for a prime-time presidential debate is a sham, and an insult to democracy. And that the news networks would sell out like this is shameful.

At least Al Jazeera and Russia Today still believe in American democracy.
