Lots of fun!! Go ahead and get the 5 gallon bucket of dirt and share it. You get the best stuff in it! Friendly, kind staff. Ms Heather was so sweet with our 6 year old.

Incredible store!! Wall to wall of exciting and exotic stones and cathedrals....awesome place to gem mine and see all the really neat stuff. Always see people having so much fun gem mining here.

Awsome place for the little ones. we originally went for our 4 year old to play and mom and dad seemed to enjoy just as much. We got the prospector bucket and ended up with 2 decent bags of gems. It's sorta obvious that the buckets are seeded but it's fun anyway. Again this is fun for the kids with no likely chance of striking it rich.

I spend thousands each year both on places like this and mining actual old abandoned mines both above and below ground. This is a nice tourist trap place but it kinda stops there. Not one stone they have there is from NC and most of it they can't even tell you where it came from. If you are after a good gem mine for tourist visit gem mountain. I go to them all and they have the best bang for the buck. Athey own 14 of their own mines and you can visit and dig at two.of them.

We visited Elijah Mountain Gem Mine based on it's great reviews. It is definitely a great place to go, I saw a lot of children there up to about 10 years old and adults who all enjoyed it. We got a $30 bucket for our nearly 5 year old daughter and she loved it! She was able to fill 2 sandwich baggies with various gems from the one bucket. She loved it so much we went again the next day! Be sure to ask one of the operators about the gems you find! We just revisited 2 years later and it was even better than the last time. My daughter truly loves coming here. We look forward to going again.
