Favorite new ‘Point of Interest’ outside Las Vegas: Seven Magic Mountains. #7magicmountains

When we visited Thursday morning, there were a dozen cars in the parking lot. There is a dirt path from the parking lot to the sculptures. All of the visitors appear to be in jovial moods. No one stays that long. The average visit is about 25 minutes according to Google.

An ephemeral exhibit, this land art installation will last only so long before it is disassembled. We don’t know if it will come down on the second year anniversary, May 11, 2018, but the countdown is on.

Zion National Park is one of our favorite places in the USA. Ancestral Puebloans inhabited the area from 500-1200 A.D, followed by the Paiute, who were still in residence in 1858 when Mormon missionaries arrived. The Paiute called the area Mukuntuweap which means “straight canyon” in Southern Pauite. http://planeta.com/zion

Sustainable travel ought to be at the center of a worldwide revolution. But to be effective, we need to learn how to make the most of the movement toward open access and open education. Open Education Week takes place March 27-31, and this is the ideal time to conduct a simple inventory:

1. Are there examples of open education resources in conservation, parks and protected areas?

2. Are there examples of open education resources in travel and tourism?

And while inventories are helpful, but slow to compile, let’s make this a game. Rules to be established. Details http://planeta.com/1703openeducation
