Pardon my messy hair in this profile photo -- it was all because I whipped the egg whites into a meringue by hand!

I would have loved to chase and "play" with an octopus

Fish of the day
Great Barrier Reef & Coral Sea Survey 4 (Day 1)

This Shovel Nose Ray can usually be found under the pier at Heron Island at hight tide and we photographed it an hour ago surrounded by a huge school of bait fish.

We're back on Heron Island  to do a survey of neighbouring One Tree Island - one of the few fully protected areas on the Great Barrier Reef. No one can go within 500m of this Island without a research permit so it will be fascinating to discover what effect this has had on the marine life.

3D Optical Illusion
These optical illusion are really impressive. They have been created by Edgar Müller, the master of street painting.

So cool...
A seashell surprised National Geographic explorers when thousands of octopus larvae suddenly emerged.

Fish of the day Great Barrier Reef Survey 2 (Day 7)

This fish is called a Royal Dottyback, it looks like it was born yellow but then dipped head-first in magenta paint. We spotted this stylish reef fish on Chicken Reef earlier this month.

Bangsamoro. If all goes well, we will finally have peace with our Muslim brothers and sisters in Western Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelago. Sadly, I grew up ignorant about them, except for a roommate I once had in college. I am sharing this documentary that helped me gain some knowledge and appreciation of our Moro kababayans.

(I can't help but repost my own post in facebook.  Hehe!)
