Watched "Baby Driver" tonight.

1) I would love to have that kind of skill behind the wheel
2) soundtrack album for that flick is probably pretty good
3) surprisingly, my wife liked it. Total guy movie, but she liked it.

After a couple of very small Torx bits, a dozen q-tips, some rubbing alcohol and mineral oil, my pocket knife finally closes all the way again.

Enough pocket cruft built up over the last however many years to keep just a hair of pointy tip exposed. After 4 band-aids on my finger I finally took it all apart and cleaned it out.

Boy, that was a good day. I spent all day outside working to help my neighbor take down one of his big cottonwood trees. I'm tired, I'm sore, my feet hurt and I've probably got a sunburn, but that was a well-spent day. Three families worth of kids all played pretty nicely all day and we had a little grill-out afterwards.
Oh, and as we were wrapping up, two huge owls came and perched in the tree and hooted at each other for a while.

Mitsubishi Lancer: makes the 12 year old Saturn I used to drive feel powerful and sporty. Regrettably Avis had "nothing else left in my class" Sunday night.

Baby, it's cold outside.
...inside, too, it seems. The van's been in the garage for 24 hours straight with no signs of snow melt.

In related news, Denver got into the top 20 "largest temperature swings in 24hrs" last this week with a whopping 72F drop between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning

Did some shoe shopping, let Lia get out for grocery shopping all by her little lonesome self, cleaned up behind a potty-training 3-year old, grilled bratwurst at 67F last night, took my daughter to school at 11F this morning in a couple inches of snow.

Right now I've got my latest round of "straight chili" going on the stove. Trying to avoid some failings of the last few rounds - leaner meat, way less cinnamon, very reduced ingredient count, tomatoes back in the game... I think I've got the chili pepper end of the platform in good shape - three Costenos, three arbols, 5ish negros - it's got a nice bite without being overwhelming. Right now I'd dump this over a bowl of rice and probably be pretty happy. ...but I'm light on meat because King Soopers apparently substituted me a small steak for the large chuck roast I wanted.
The office chili cookoff is Thursday, so the flavors have some time to blend and I can fix the meat situation fairly easily.

If, at 9pm, you pull a single sock of out the sleeve of the shirt you've been wearing all day (answering the question of where your other grey/blue/yellow argyle sock went) - is that sock a Dirty Sock?

I /have been "wearing" it all day, after all...

One oven element replaced, one ikea chair built, one ikea bunk bed assembled, one ikea dresser assembled, two van seats reinstalled, two kids car seats reinstalled...

Now to deal with a mountain of cardboard so I can get through the garage again while hoping my daughter remembers she's in a bunk bed before she tries to get up in the middle of the night.
