Hi Jeff   The slideshow program in KDE is pretty nice.  I wish all desktops had something similar.  XFCE is close but the shortest time for viewing an image is one minute.  I like that you can make that time as little as ten seconds in KDE.  Really cool, especially for someone like me who has over 3600 specially chosen wallpapers.   It's a great feature!  Happy viewing Jeff.

J  By this time I thought you would have had video reviews of Linux Mint 16 KDE and XFCE done.  What gives?  You are usually on top of any Linux Mint release right away.  Could you be seeing the instability in the KDE version that I am?  After a new installation replete with ALL the post install tweaks and additions I rebooted and lost all titlebars on every window.  It was the freakiest thing.  I also had a major instability issues, albeit different problems, with the latest KDE version of PCLinuxOS.  Are you having problems with KDE?

Charlie  Another nice review.  I've bopped around the Linux world and I've tried quite a number of KDE distros but I always seem to come back to Linux Mint.  Why?  Well, it's a combination of things: it's nubie friendly, has a clean & polished look, runs stable and secure, uses the huge ubuntu repositories, has many apps that are best in class, is extremely customizable, and has a nice selection of well thought out applications that are adequate without being bloated.  This is a combination that will win every time.  Kudos to the Linux Mint team for producing such nice software and remaining faithful to the needs of the desktop computer user.  That's saying something when everyone else is minimalizing and dumbing down their software, trend pandering to garner a greater share of the small devise market.

Charlie  The other day I downloaded and burned an iso of Netrunner KDE.  It's ok.  Outside of being 340 MB larger and having a bit more visible eye candy I found it to be not much different from Mint KDE.  I think I'll stay with tried and true over the relative newcomer for now,   Besides, I love doing my own customization.  That's half the fun in using KDE.  However I do wish there was more published on setting up and tweaking that desktop.  There are SO MANY options the user is presented with that it's overwhelming, especially if you're a newbie.  Perhaps you might consider making a video, or a series of videos on this topic.  I think A LOT of people would appreciate that.
