- Good old Le Monde, always poised to defend the principle of 'laicite". This is a more sophisticated form of defence of the principle than the kind the French media often produce. I agree with this piece. The term Islamophobia risks becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy and completely obscures the debates within the Muslim community. This writer indicates that non-Islamist Muslims are targeted by Islamists. This is quite correct, but he does not explain that what really happens is that Islamists declare all Muslims who don't agree with them to be non-Muslims, apostates, and therefore legitimate targets of violence. There is no other way they could live with the knowledge of how many Muslims died in 9/11, 7/7 and many other terrorist attacks.Nov 5, 2013
