Shaw's is two restaurants in one – a jazzy, sophisticated, seafood restaurant and a carefree, lively oyster bar. Both serve top-grade fish and shellfish, varieties of oysters, and sushi and sashimi.

I would love to give a review on the food, however we never had a chance and this is why. I made a reservation 2 weeks in advance for my girlfriends birthday. We drove 3 hrs to experience Shaw's. When we arrived, they had record of our reservation, told my girlfriend Happy Birthday, gave us a buzzer and we headed to the bar. We waited 50 minutes for the buzzer to go off. I went to the hostess station to politely asked when we would be seated. She checked the buzzer, and told me that we were never entered into the system as checked in. She then said we would be seated as soon as possible. We waited 20 more minutes and left. We went to Gibson's, and had a great time, as well as treated with respect. Please respect your customers and make sure you at least look like you know what you are doing.

Sunday brunch was the best ever! Service was impeccable. I am not a fan of buffets but this was all you can eat king crab legs, shrimp, oysters and sushi! Hot and cold bars with the regular omelet waffle section. And the dessert table had cotton candy enough said. This will be a stop every time I visit Chicago.

Shaw's is the place in the city for Oysters! They take their oysters very seriously. I dined here recently and experienced by first raw oyster. My husband loves oysters and has been eating them for years but I could never bring myself to try one until we came to Shaw's for an oyster tasting event. We really learned all there is to learn about oysters. The regions in which they come, how they are shucked, and the difference between east coast and west coast oysters among many other things. We tasted the raw oysters and then other varieties such as oysters Rockefeller. Shaw's has wines and beers to accompany your oysters for the best tasting experience. I highly recommend visiting Shaw's for their oysters but if oysters aren't your thing their menu also provides a vary of fare from land and sea. After our tasting I had the petite filet mignon which as cooked to a perfect medium. Just the way I like it. I also would recommend their chocolate layer cake or raspberry pie for dessert. This place earns 5 stars in my book!

First of all, Shaw's IS the go-to place in Chicago for seafood, in my opinion. I mean seriously, I could bathe in their lobster bisque, it is that delicious! Some people say that Shaw's is on the pricier side however, if you want a quality seafood experience, it's gonna cost ya a little bit more and at Shaw's, it is WELL worth it. If you really want a bang for your buck, go to the all you can eat Sunday Brunch. It's about $50 per person but you can stuff yourself silly with king crab, oysters, shrimp, along with scalloped potatoes and beef tenderloin that literally melts in your mouth. Oh - and an entire room dedicated to desserts! YUM!

Absolutely great!! We went there for Mother's Day and the food was so nice that it was worth the upscale price we paid. I knew this restaurant was special because I dislike lemon merengue pie, but their's is sooooo good.

We come from Philadelphia to experience Shaw's. My husband and I are Oyster addicts and love to sit in the Oyster bar closest to where the delicate operation of opening and plating the gems. The best deal is getting to the bar for HH special and select the East Coast v West Coast selections. But anytime is a good time to sample the selections. Actually, we dicker over the regions - me loving the East coast varieties and my husband savoring the West coast. The saltier the better followed by plump sweeties all dipped in Champaign Vinegar nectar! Highly recommend!

If you are looking for the freshest oysters in Chicago then this is the place. Shaw's has been delivering fantastic food in Chicago for the last 30 years. Other fish restaurants have opened and closed over the years but Shaw's remains a constant in the city for seafood. Shaw's has a close relationship with many Oyster providers and they get their product delivered directly. It would be hard to find a fresher oyster unless you had your own boat in the North Atlantic. Shaw's prices all of their oysters the same which makes it easy to order and try the different varieties. They also have a great happy hour every day from 4 to 6pm which includes half price oysters. So if you love oysters, then this is the place for you. I must comment on the freshness of the oysters. They are amazing. It is interesting how different oysters have a different taste based on which coast and cove they are found in. Some are buttery and others taste like the salty sea. It's great to get a variety at Shaw's to see what type of oysters you like. I love topping my oyster with a dash of hot sauce, a little cocktail sauce and some of the fresh horseradish. The horseradish here is so good. If you have a chance ask to see the private room that houses the Oyster Hall of Fame. I am sure they will show it to you unless there is a private party going on in here. You could always rent the room and throw the ultimate oyster fest. I also recommend you try their exclusive homemade Pearl beer here that is brewed by Goose Island Brewery. It is actually brewed with crushed up oyster shells. How cool is that!!! Now if you don't like oysters then Shaw's has tons of other options. If you're a meat lover then I recommend you grab the filet. It is very good. The sides are out of this world. The steamed broccoli with a cheddar-brie sauce was fantastic. I loved at how green and crisp the broccoli was. I can't stand broccoli that has been killed to the point of mush in a restaurant. The Au Gratin Potatoes were simply amazing. The bowl contains the right consistency of crispy cheese outside to gooey cheese inside. I wanted to eat the whole dish myself. You can also choose from the many fresh seafood selections. I enjoyed the grilled Mahi Mahi in a ginger & garlic vinegar sauce. It gave the fish a nice Asian taste. And you can't say no to dessert. Fresh seafood and key lime go together. I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever had but it hit the spot. I thought it was a little to tart but I totally loved the graham cracker crust. On a side note they have love entertainment too. Recently on a Thursday night there was a great blues band playing in the bar area. I love my city because sometimes I feel like I'm on vacation but I'm not. I'm home! So if you've never been to Shaw's in Chicago, what are you waiting for. It's been in the city for 30 years and they keep cranking out quality food and drink. So shuck a shell and grab a seat at a Chicago Original, I guarantee you will be happy.

Here is a restaurant that runs like a Swiss watch, but still is able to bring a personal touch and smooth, relaxed manner to what could easily be a hectic, packed house. As regulars, we are greeted by name and even always seated at our favorite table. Then, of course, there is the food. I don't think one could regret ordering anything on their VERY extensive menu that includes numbers of fresh fish and seafood preparations, a full Sushi menu, and, yes, great steaks too. The wine list is diverse and includes numbers of selections both by the glass and by the bottle at reasonable prices as well as a deep list of fine wines for expense accounts, special occasions - or just because. Although I have run up some substantial checks, I have never felt that I didn't get value for my money - and that, to me is the way to evaluate my dining experience.
