Photos from our honeymoon to NZ: https://goo.gl/photos/j4jQxfHVUvG5RRjQA

Rough itinerary: Christchurch --> Banks Track/Akaroa --> Dunedin --> Queenstown --> Hokitika --> Nelson --> Blenheim --> Kaikoura --> Christchurch

We mostly hiked every day, with some driving and sightseeing to get between places. We averaged ~10 miles/day hiking. I'd say the whole thing was a highlight, but my biggest smiles were probably the Banks Track, the section of the Routeburn track we did (Glenorchy), and riding quad bikes around a farm and up a creek near Kaikoura. Also swimming in/jumping into the Pelorus river, but we didn't spend nearly enough time doing that. Also also getting to casually see Star Wars before anyone in the US.

Christchurch was a mess, though it is somewhat recovering according to locals. The downtown core felt like 1/3 construction sites, 1/3 buildings that were still falling apart, and 1/3 stuff that was open. We went to a "swishy" bar one night, which meant "please don't wear hi-vis vests and workboots inside". My only sunburn was to the back of my hands from a day of biking around wine country, so I'll call that a success.

It felt like California in terms of variety, though it is ~1/3 the size and has ~1/38th the population. Or like a more populated/more developed Scotland that also happened to have golden beaches.

The only thing I would change would be booking a bit more in advance for activities - between Christmas and New Years, lodgings are at capacity on the South Island. We ended up missing out on something fun because we couldn't find any place to stay within 1.5 hours of the jumping-off point (and it started early in the morning).

The North Island remains a mystery zone, likely a private retreat for Peter Jackson and his friends, plus that airport they let people use to fly into the country.

Highly recommended if you are in Copenhagen: Grød, the Torvehallerne location. Yes, it is a bowl of oatmeal for ~$8 USD, but you probably pay that much for two pieces of toast and this one will rock your socks off plus keep you full for quite some time.

Emily and I just returned from a trip to lots of Christmas markets and sights. Starting in Berlin, we went in a big loop: Dresden, Nuremberg, Munich, Salzburg, Prague.

You won't find many photos of Christmas markets because phone cameras and night-time do not make the best friends.

We liked Nuremberg's markets the most.

A few more weeks of mostly architecture in Berlin. As well as a few photos from shops. Particularly, www.modulor.de which is the biggest and best art store I've been to; truly astounding collection of stuff. +Rebecca S. - you could probably spend an afternoon walking around in it finding things.

I've hit a point on my current game where I don't want to work on it for a while, so enjoy the prototype: http://games.hazzens.com/ninja_rock/ninja_rock.html

I wrote a post about it at http://games.hazzens.com/blog/2013/10/15/game_on_hold.html which also contains a link to the level editor.

Now to start on a project I've been kicking around in my head for a while; I'll post some concept art and progress shots as they become available.

Berlin continues to be awesome.

What can't you buy at Mauerpark on a Sunday? I'm not sure. The Karaoke, though, is free.
