We have lots of exciting things going on this week at The Little Gym of Columbia!

Summer Priority Enrollment
Members, don't forget that this week is the last opportunity for you to reserve your child's space in summer classes and camps before we begin open enrollment! For the remainder of this week, if you enroll for a summer class, you will receive 50 extra Member Milestones points and will be entered for a chance to win a FREE summer class! Also for the rest of this week, camp days are being offered at their LOWEST possible price of only $30/day, which reflects a $10/day savings from the regular member price! If you don't know which camp days you'd like to sign up for just yet, that's okay! We offer a flex pass, so that you can buy as many camp days as you'd like and schedule them at your convenience. Don't forget that siblings can share a flex pass, too!

Spring Break Camps
We will be hosting Spring Break Camps this year at The Little Gym of Columbia on Friday, April 3rd and Friday, April 10th from 9am-12pm. These camps will be in the same format as our Super Kids Quest summer camps, so this is a great opportunity for your child to try us out if they've never done a camp with us before! The theme is Dragon's Lair Slumber Party, and kids are encouraged to wear their pajamas during this outrageously fun adventure! Games, challenges, and even some Hip Hop Dane will make this Dragon's Lair Slumber Party a Quest to remember! Spring Break camps are for children ages 3-8, and the cost is $40 for members, $45 for non-members. Call us today to get enrolled!

Dance Costumes
Families who are enrolled in Dance programs, don't forget that this is the last week to bring your $30 cash or check for Big Show dance costumes! Costumes will be ordered on Saturday afternoon! If you have any questions about your child's dance costume, feel free to give us a call!

This week's Practice Times: Parent/Child Wednesday 2:45-3:15; Pre/K & Grade School Friday 5:15-6:00.

Upside Down!

Being upside down is huge for coordination and body control, and it’s also great for developing upper body strength! Check out these four tips featured in Family Fun Magazine for mastering a handstand from The Little Gym’s Director of Curriculum, Randy McCoy!
1. Start by building arm strength. In a clear space with a rug or mat, have your child stand with his or her back to a wall, bend down, reach out, and plant your child’s hands on the ground two to three feet in front. Have your child keep his or her arms straight and carefully walk their feet up the wall.
2. Donkey Kicks: Next, have your child squat away from the wall with his or her feet slightly apart and hands on the floor. Keeping their gaze on their hands, your child should kick up both feet at the same time.
3. Long Leg Kicks: With hands on the floor and one foot 12 inches in front of the other, have your child kick up with their back leg, and then quickly follow with the other into a mini handstand.
4. Do a Handstand! Have your child stand with their feet about 12 inches apart, one in front of the other, and have him or her reach their hands to the ground. When they touch, have them push off his or her front leg and kick up into into a handstand. Spot your child as they go up to prevent them from toppling over. Support his or her legs and/or hips so that your child is stable once they are up. Ta-Da!
Practice makes perfect so be sure to encourage your child to practice their handstands every day… soon enough your child will be upside down, and all around! Happy Handstands from The Little Gym of Columbia!

Thanks for Joining Us!

Thank you to all of our members who attended our I heart LEGO DUPLO build event on February 27th! We had a great time building with LEGO DUPLO bricks, building friendships, and most importantly having a whole lot of fun! Continue your child’s growth and love for LEGO DUPLO in The Little Gym of Columbia’s programs with LEGO building activities! “Let’s Build, Let’s Play” is a complimentary Parent/Child program designed for children 19months to 3 years that will allow your child to expand their creative skills and improve their understanding of shapes and colors! In addition to our programs with LEGO DUPLO building, we encourage you and your child(ren) to build with LEGO products at home! Post a picture of your child building with their LEGO’s with the hashtag, #TheLittleGymLovesLEGO to show everyone what your child is building. For more information on The Little Gym of Columbia’s programs with LEGO building please contact us at 803.738.1115 and speak with a team member. We can’t wait to build with you!
