Boycott What?
Over the past 3 years I have had the wonderful opportunity of directing a few projects for AMPAS (The Academy) which air on the Oscars telecast.
Boycott? I don’t think so, I was fortunate enough to do the Governors Awards, The Oscar nomination broadcast, the first Oscar nominated song concert and the upcoming SciTech Awards. And I am going to go on a limb and say that I am one of the few if not the first African American director to get that opportunity. So no, I will not be boycotting these projects; I will go to work, do an exceptional job and get my screen credit on the main show telecast. We all know the politics of employment as freelancers, but my dream is to one day get the Pre-show and eventually the main show itself, a kid can dream, after all that is what Hollywood is made of.
