Over the last stretch of the #AWomanAPart +Kickstarter campaign, we'll be sharing some personal thoughts about the project from our incredible actors. First up, #CaraSeymour. Cara's an incredible, inimitable actress currently co-starring as an irreverent nun on #StevenSoderberg's award-winning TV series, +The Knick, with Clive Owen playing a brilliant but cocaine and heroine addicted surgeon at a turn-of-the-century New York hospital. Now in Season 2, the series has garnered much critical acclaim. +Amy Taubin writes about the series in +Artforum: "The great Cara Seymour plays Sister Harriet, a dark-humored, chain-smoking nun. The hospital’s resident midwife, she’s seen too many women suffer and die giving birth or from botched attempts at abortion to turn her back on desperation, even at the cost of her immortal soul."

While this is Cara's first major TV role, it's consistent with her highly selective approach to taking on parts which are each so distinct many don't realize she's the same actor. Along with a formidable theater career, she's co-starred in some of the best films of the past twenty years including #HotelRawanda, #AmericanPsycho, Dancer In the Dark, #Birth, Gangs of New York, and #AnEducation

In A Woman, A Part, Cara gives one of her most intense performances to date, as Kate Mullin, Anna’s longtime friend and collaborator with whom she attempts to reconnect upon her return to New York. A brilliant actor and performance artist, Kate has walked away from her acting career to get sober. She's now a struggling freelance graphic designer and practicing Buddhist, on the brink of being priced out of gentrified NYC.

Please check out the #Kickstarter   #crowdfunding   campaign for A Woman, A Part, my latest feature film production with my producing partner +Scott Macaulay ) and writer/director +Elisabeth Subrin)

http://kck.st/1lOL7iY

"A Woman, A Part" is a drama about a burnt-out actress struggling to reinvent herself by returning to her past life in New York, and it deals with a lot of themes that I think resonate with all of us: the desire to escape one's life, the difficulty of change, the nature of friendship, and identity in this social media-defined age. The film stars #MaggieSiff   ( #MadMen    #SonsofAnarchy  ) #CaraSeymour   (#TheKnick, An Education), #JohnOrtiz  (#SilverLiningsPlaybook, #Togetherness  ), and #KhandiAlexander   ( #Treme   #Scandal )

Elisabeth is a passionate, driven filmmaker hell bent on creating complex dramatic roles for women, and exploring their lives through a richly visual and emotional lens. Featuring the marvelous Maggie Siff "A Woman A Part" promises to be her most powerful film to date.

+Jill Soloway, #Transparent

We've also been building audience for our film and elucidating its themes for the past two years on our Tumblr, "Who Cares about Actresses?"

We're locking picture soon and moving onto sound, music and color correction. I hope you're interested enough to learn more about it at the links above (or through the video below)
