Here's an idea for you to noodle. I've been looking at Google's Mobile home page from inside our Android Browser. On average it's about 270,000 bytes of code (with a ton of JavaScript) which loads in about 7 seconds

How about we figure out how to get the page down to about 70,000 bytes without all that JavaScript - and still access the native device OS API's to grab location which you need.

I bet we could do it.

It will be interesting to test the performance. We have a free Android browser that we've added extensive instrumentation to so you can see in real time HTTP traffic performance exactly as the user experiences (i.e. inside the browser). The biggest culprit so far is way too much JavaScript, and sites that are not designed for Mobile
