What is START Gallery? It's a forum. It's a laboratory. It's a place for questions. It's a place for answers.

It's whatever you make it. So STARTsomething.

START Gallery is pleased to present All Wet, an exhibition featuring the work of Professor John Pickel's Darkroom Photography Class. Running from November 8 to November 23, All Wet features photograms as well as other darkroom methods.

Paramount within All Wet is the use of older technologies. Unlike current digital photography, these older processes tend to be slower and more subject to “error”. Students embrace the distinctive individual characteristics of these processes which serve as springboards for their ideas.

Visit START Gallery this Tuesday, November 8 for a FREE reception open to the public. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

Story
Founded in 2009, START Gallery serves as the only year-round venue for viewing, discussing, and purchasing student works of visual art in the Winston-Salem area. An initiative of Wake Forest University, START Gallery presents 12-15 exhibitions per year featuring Wake Forest University undergraduates and alumni.

Most of the art work displayed in START Gallery is generated through studio course work and is therefore a product of close instruction by members of the studio art faculty at Wake Forest University. START Gallery is managed by a recent graduate serving in a one-year fellowship position and staffed by current undergraduate students.
