Incredible really!
It’s an Honor to Help

The ferocity of Hurricane Harvey was stunning. We will continue to see the aftereffects of Harvey and those of Hurricane Irma for months and perhaps years to come. “The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.” - President Barack Obama

Major Event Trailers is deeply honored to have been stationed at ExxonMobil refinery in Beaumont, Texas, offering our services to those in need. The outpouring of support, love and goods from Americans all over our country has been heartwarming. We spent time and shared story with people who were suffering from the effects of the hurricane and those who had come to help with disaster relief. Many conversations were wrenching yet the spirit to survive and rebuild is beyond admirable. The impact of this experience is something we will never forget.

Being in Beaumont changed us by no small measure due to the countless random acts of kindness and the enormous generosity of heart shown by so many.

We send our love, thoughts and prayers to the wonderful people of Texas and Florida who have been so severely afflicted by these natural disasters.

--- Jobs lost due to Robots & Technology ---

This appears more than savvy conflation from the techie’s world, but an exponentially growing trend!

In the early 2020s, self-autonomous cars and vehicles disrupt millions of jobs the globe over. Additionally, according to new Forrester Research, development in artificial intelligence and related tech will eliminate 6% of jobs in the U.S. by 2021.

When earlier this year it was announced Foxconn replaced 60,000 factory workers with robots, it was news from the future. Lowe's has already also adopted robots in its department stores. The robot is not just a back-end helper, but on the front lines:
The LoweBot is an autonomous retail service robot that can meet the needs of both store employees and shoppers.

However, disruption of the workforce, won't just hit us in one direction. The trend is an exponential array of technologies will impact human jobs. From personal assistants such as Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri and Viv doing more, to 3D printers changing manufacturing forever, the 2020s amounts to a massively disruptive decade for employment.
Convergence of Disruptive Trends Doomsayer for Economy
The fact is, the automation of jobs coincides with the baby boomers retiring en masse and a larger segment of our population being senior citizens, which will put stress on the global economy.

Technological change, basically means a decrease of the middle class in developed countries, while developing markets "catch up". Immigration and rapid urbanization trends continue, blurring boundaries and national borders still further.

Across the Board

Finance, banking, retail and healthcare could see machine-learning and robots drastically reduce employment opportunities there. It's entirely possible that chat-bots that can speak just like a human (indistinguishable), will also put many sales associates out of a job. Marketing automation and even mobile video advertising and personalized offers will take place via algorithms and Big Data insights will be actionable by AI, that are able to target offers above human performance levels.

STEM Jobs More Resilient Have Fewer Women
Some argue that due to the nature of which jobs will be automated and due to the under representation of women in STEM fields, the gender gap could increase. Thus making the women in technology stories and debates of today, that much more relevant for the women of tomorrow.

This is important to all of us working for our clients site optimization. Seemingly innocuous verbiage changes make a lot of difference.

Google My Business Enables Special Hours For Upcoming Holiday Hours

Just in time for the holidays, you can now schedule special hours for your business based on holidays or special events.

Google announced that now, business owners can add “special hours” to their local listings within their Google My Business listings.

Special hours let local businesses inform their customers about longer or shorter store hours based on the upcoming holidays, or even a special event the store may be holding. This is most important now for the upcoming holiday season, so Google is expected to launch it in early November....
