A workshop on new Human Resources (HR) requirements for employers will be held at the Addison County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC) 2nd Floor Conference Room in Middlebury on Tuesday morning August 22, 2017.

This workshop which will describe examples of various financing & technical resources. The panel discussion will be followed by time for individual meetings between providers and business owners.

Get organized! A unique training opportunity to start 2017 off right!

The Addison County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC) is collaborating with well-known expert, local productivity consultant and Certified Professional Organizer® Porter Knight of Productivity Vermont to offer a special three-part Productivity Training series. “Getting organized“ is a perennial New Year’s resolution – let this be the year that you actually do! Join us for this lively and interactive series to help you get your new year off to an organized start. You'll leave with the tools you can put in place immediately to get more done with less stress. All participants receive bound note-taking guides to use as a lasting resource, and will create personalized tools each session to implement their learning.

Productivity Training is a three-part series taking place in Middlebury on Wednesday mornings at the Ilsley Library, as follows::

January 11 - Session #1: Maintaining Mental Focus

February 8 – Session #2: Paper, Lists, & Scheduling

March 8 – Session #3: Email Best Practices

All sessions will be held at the Ilsley Library Community Room from 8:30 – 10:30 AM. (Room opens at 8:15 AM so we can begin promptly at 8:30.) Session descriptions and more detail can be found here.

Registration for this series is open to all. The cost for the 3 sessions is $325 for ACEDC members and $350 for non-members. These prices are for all 3 sessions, as there is no price per session. We need to have a minimum of 13 pre-paid participants in order to offer the program. Please send your check, payable to ACEDC, to us by December 31st. On Thursday July 28, 2016 the Addison County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC) and the VT Small Business Development Center (VtSBDC) are co-sponsoring this valuable workshop on using QuickBooks effectively as a business management tool.

The workshop will review the 5 different versions of QuickBooks and the simple tools and reports that are found in each version. These tools are designed to save time and money, and give you information in the format you require to manage your business efficiently and effectively.

The presenter is Karen Siewert, of the Certified QB Group, who has been named one of the top 100 Intuit QuickBooks Pro Advisors.

The Addison County Chamber of Commerce (ACCoC), Addison County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC), Addison County Regional Planning Commission (ACPRC) and Middlebury College invite the public to attend the Addison County Vermont Futures Project Forum featuring an introduction by Laurie Patton, President of Middlebury College.

The Vermont Futures Project is convening a statewide discussion series regarding the future of Vermont with a goal of enhancing and sustaining a robust and growing economy. 

To help build this vision, the Vermont Futures Project is holding forums led by the Vermont Futures Project research team of Jeff Lewis and Jennifer Stromsten who will discuss key economic indicators on the recently launched economic dashboard found at They will explore Vermont's unique challenge in balancing our commitment to environmental responsibility, fairness to our people, and growth of opportunity. 

The Vermont Futures Project was launched by the Vermont Chamber Foundation to build a shared vision for the economy in collaboration with partner organizations, academic institutions and thought leaders. Addison County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC) and the Vermont Small Business Development Center (VtSBDC) are co-sponsoring a valuable “Marketing Bootcamp” series . 

Marketing Bootcamp for Small Businesses is a hands-on workshop to help small businesses create a marketing plan that works. The program will consist of a 3-hour interactive workshop and two follow-up 1-hour facilitated small group meetings to check in on progress and receive feedback. The goal of the series is that by January 2016, participants will have developed their own one-page marketing plan that specifically identifies goals, strategies and tactics for implementation.

This workshop will include a panel of marketing professionals who will talk about their own marketing experiences and answer questions. Panel members are Bob Kesner of Evergreen Direct, Cy Tall of Beau Ties, and Sas Stewart of Stonecutter Spirits.

Which marketing tools are the right fit for your business? Hear from experts and business users on the front lines. The Addison County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC) is hosting Vermont Lt. Governor Phil Scott for the Addison County Economy Pitch about prospects for improving Vermont’s economy. During this two-hour session, state and local legislators, as well as the general public from the Addison County region, will have the unique opportunity to hear directly from the area’s business community about their proposals regarding specific steps lawmakers could take which will have a positive impact on the State’s economy. The purpose of this event is for business community members to share their ideas in these brief economy pitch sessions.  Each business participant has only five minutes to pitch an idea on how to better Vermont’s economy.  Lt. Governor Scott then presents these ideas to the legislature, in hopes of putting them into action.
