We're sad to see Union Bank shuttering its Ferry Street location, but glad to report there's "something brewing" for the old Bow Rack building on Escobar Street. Look for updates from the Martinez Tribune. Our website is coming soon!

Union Bank at 634 Ferry St., Martinez, will be closing its doors at 4 p.m. Oct. 9.

The bank is in the process of notifying its customers, and wants customers to know they do not need to take any action at this time; existing checks, deposit slips and payment coupons may be used. After the closure, customers may rely on the branch in Pleasant Hill.

The closure will mark the third bank to leave the downtown in recent years, following Westamerica Bank and Bank of America.

HELP WANTED!

The Martinez Tribune, a new community newspaper serving the county seat of Contra Costa, is looking for Advertising Representatives in the San Francisco Bay Area. We pride ourselves on excellent service to our community, and hope to bring new members to our dedicated team.

Advertising Representatives will work to introduce our publication to new clientele, sell print and digital advertising, and service accounts. This means working with the sales team on developing new leads through cold calling, research, referrals, email, and attending applicable networking events. Advertising Representatives also work closely with our graphics department to develop ads and sales materials that best serve our clientele. They also assist in ensuring full and timely payment of contracted sales.

The right candidates must:
• Be reliable, self-motivated and organized;
• Have the ability to become comfortable with making cold calls;
• Have the ability to make accurate, rapid cost calculations (with a calculator);
 • Possess a strong command of the English language and excellent verbal and written communication skills (second languages a plus).

Marketing/Communications backgrounds preferred, as well as those knowledgeable about the newspaper business, but we’ll train the right candidates.

Work hours are flexible and may, on occasion, require weekends and weeknights. Our offices are located in Martinez, California. Some telecommuting positions are also available.

Expected compensation starts at approximately $36,000 per annum. This is a commission-only position with higher-than-average commission paid, so the sky is the limit!

If this sounds like a great fit, please apply today. Send your resume to jobs@martineztribune.com. Please introduce yourself and let us know why you believe you’re the best candidate to join our team.

We look forward to receiving your application.
