Retired WWII, Korean and Vietnam War veteran Eugene, 95, was used to staying physically fit. When he started having shortness of breath and fatigue, he became concerned and saw his cardiologist. When diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis, Srinivas Iyengar, MD, FACC, Structural Heart Director at Manatee Memorial Hospital, suggested Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), a minimally invasive alternative to replace the diseased valve. “I am so grateful for this wonderful technology,” Eugene says. Learn more about this procedure and Eugene's story below.

Thanks to our Wound Care and Hyperbaric Treatment Program team for their showing their support of American Heart Month by wearing red t-shirts, every Friday in February. Coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease and other issues with the heart and vessels can cause obstructions that hinder the flow of blood, oxygen and nutrition to a wound. Just another reason to keep your heart healthy!
