To celebrate the beginning of summer, free admission is being offered on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at all the Kalamazoo County Parks to encourage everyone to get outside and explore nature. If you haven’t had the opportunity to explore the great parks our county has to offer, this is your chance! Goody bags will be available while supplies last and include assorted items varying by park. You can also enter for a chance to win a 2015 Annual Vehicle Entrance Pass.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will also be held at River Oaks County Park on the same day at 11am to celebrate the grand opening of the new splash pad and dog park.

The Kalamazoo County Parks offer the perfect location for outdoor recreation. Enjoy a day at one of the three swimming beaches, let your kids get wet at the splash pad, go for a hike, take your dog to the dog park, do some fishing, plan a picnic, play a round of disc golf, or even go camping for a couple nights. All these activities and more are available at the parks.

“Many people don’t realize all the opportunities for recreation at the parks right here in Kalamazoo County,” said David Rachowicz, Parks Director. “This is a great way to kick off the summer and see all that the parks have to offer.”

For more information including park locations and maps go online at www.kalamazoocountyparks.com. The regular county park entrance fees are only $5 per vehicle or $25 for an annual pass.

The Kalamazoo County Parks System includes Cold Brook County Park in Climax, Markin Glen County Park just north of Downtown Kalamazoo, Prairie View County Park in Vicksburg, River Oaks County Park in Galesburg and Scotts Mill County Park in Scotts, the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail and the Kalamazoo County Expo Center & Fairground.
