A cold but beautiful place in Ukraine... trudging through the snow and quite alone... whenever I did occasionally see an older someone, they always wore a severe expression... if you've been to any former eastern-bloc countries, then you know what I mean...

Just saw this quote go by from the TED Global Conference. I had never thought about pain this way, but this makes sense. Do you agree with this statement? I wonder what the context of this in Paul Bloom's speech was. Can anyone from TED fill that in?
