Fashion Forward: Where Style and Technology Meet:
Would you wear a dress capable of changing color with your mood? Or carry a clutch that doubles as a speaker? What about a bracelet that measures sun exposure and provides personalized recommendations to protect your skin? Would you use a basketball that critiques your performance and offers customized coaching based on performance? Or rock a drum solo on a pair of pants that serves as a drum kit? http://bit.ly/1rYZfGT

Today’s wireless networks have a hard time keeping up with the demand by mobile devices for higher data rates, multimedia services support, and ever more bandwidth. And when data starts being generated by the millions, if not billions, of machines and devices that are expected to comprise the Internet of Things, the current generation of wireless systems will be challenged as never before. http://bit.ly/1kzGwdi

Student Application Papers Applying Industry Standards are papers submitted by students, or their faculty mentors on their behalf, in which an industry technical standard(s) was applied (analyzed and implemented). Each paper highlights specific design choices in the application of various technical standards and describes the resulting product, process, or service.

The IEEE Standards Education Committee (SEC) offers grants of US $500 for students (per project) and US $300 for faculty mentors to help complete a senior, undergraduate or graduate project. Projects may be for design, capstone, development or research in which an industry technical standard(s) was applied to complete the project. http://bit.ly/1jNP3Jx
