Over the Valentines Day weekend, my wife and I went down to Orlando to visit our daughter. I had heard about the coquina rock shorlines that exist on the Atlantic coast but never had seen them. Through Google, I learned that there was a lot of this type of shoreline at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park and Marineland, FL, which were about a two hour drive from where my daughter lived. So Sunday morning, I got up at oh dark thirty so that I could be on site about a half hour before sunrise.
Having never been there, I did not know what to expect. This day turned out to be a cloudless blue day and the Atlantic was pretty calm with a low tide at sunrise. I think it would be better if the sky had some clouds, the tide was higher, and the seas were more turbulent.
So even though I did not have the best conditions, I took the opportunity to experiment with some techniques I was studying and just play around and get the lay of the land. I will definitely return.
Oh, and I got back to Orlando before the ladies were really awake. So they did not miss me and it was a good trip.
