More from Acadia.
Do you see him? No? I can't either. This particular area of Acadia National Park is well known for its white birch trees, but you have to hike a little to get to them. Along the way, my friend spooked a big buck, probably a 8 pointer for you hunters out there, and turned around and hollered "Heywaitwasthatadeer?" All I saw was the rear end headed away. But it also forced me to look into the sun and I saw this small pine being illuminated by...

Thought I would share some images I took when I went to Acadia National Park last October.  Enjoy
It's been a while since I've posted anything. Normal hubris of life stuff has kept me from enjoying my favorite hobby. We went to Acadia National Park last fall. Having never been there before, one of the obvious trips we made was to view Bass Harbor Light. Knowing how popular it was, I timed the drive over so that we would be there an hour and a half before sunset. This day, like most of the days we were there, was a cloudless bluebird day t...

When I took this image, I had been in Oregon less than a day. Already, driving up from California, I had seen more geological changes than I had in many years. The day was full of high wispy clouds that I had hoped would provide a pretty spectacular display. As the sun went down, the clouds began dissipating and I thought I'd see another clear sunset. But a few clouds did stick around and well after the sun went over the horizon, there was a...

While in GSNNP, I saw all variety of wild flowers. I was amazed at the number of different trilliums. Silly me, I thought there was only white.....

There are many varieties.  I probably saw 15 different ones at Black Rock Mountain State Park in Georgia one spring when we were there at the right time of the year.

Here is another image from the Tremont area that I forgot to include with the previous set.  This was a tough to get photo.  After scrambling down a 20 foot near cliff, I waded out into chest deep high current river waters and wedged my tripod into rocks so it wouldn't move..... :-) Um... ah.... actually I saw it as I was driving by.  Stopped.  The 20 feet down is about right, but I was able to climb on to a large rock to get this perspective.  Didn't get wet at all.  I'm actually thinking of reprocessing it.  I'm still not completely satified with it.  Let me know if  you enjoy it.

Over the Valentines Day weekend, my wife and I went down to Orlando to visit our daughter. I had heard about the coquina rock shorlines that exist on the Atlantic coast but never had seen them. Through Google, I learned that there was a lot of this type of shoreline at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park and Marineland, FL, which were about a two hour drive from where my daughter lived. So Sunday morning, I got up at oh dark thirty so that I could be on site about a half hour before sunrise.

Having never been there, I did not know what to expect. This day turned out to be a cloudless blue day and the Atlantic was pretty calm  with a low tide at sunrise. I think it would be better if the sky had some clouds, the tide was higher, and the seas were more turbulent.

So even though I did not have the best conditions, I took the opportunity to experiment with some techniques I was studying and just play around and get the lay of the land. I will definitely return.

Oh, and I got back to Orlando before the ladies were really awake. So they did not miss me and it was a good trip.

took this a few years ago.  Reprocessed it now that my PALM skills are better.  Hope you enjoy.
Took this a few years ago when I was visiting my daughter who lives in Orlando. We were walking around the lake in the evening when the sky started going nuclear. Took several pano sequences, but this one with the ducks and the swan was my favorite. Given the slow shutter speed, I didn't know if they would come out sharp. Amazingly they did. Hope you enjoy it!

Taken at Lake Siskiyou, Shasta is the Indian name which means "White Mountain." My wife and I were on a trip to Oregon and stopped here one evening on the way there. You have to understand - I am a Florida boy, and the concept of seeing snow in June or just plain seeing snow is a novelty to me. I had seen other beautiful images from this Lake, and I have to say, beautiful as they are, nothing is like actually being there. The view is spectacul...

I also visited Roaring Fork. I was a little concerned because there was a lot of downfall, both natural and sawn. Looked kinda trashy. But as I got to the stream area, I started seeing images with good potential. I was also racing the sun - it was out in full force and causing all kinds of hotspots. I was finished the here by 8:30 am. The sun was too much by then. Hope you enjoy these.

+James Kiedinger The best I could tell they were all kinds of trees. It looked to me like they were cutting them down because they were close to the road and either already had storm damage or had the potential to fall in the road. Not really sure. They sure cut down a lot of trees though. Makes it look kind of junky with all those fresh cut stumps and all the trunks and branches laying everywhere.
