Went to the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Foley, Alabama last night.  Very colorful display.

While in GSNNP, I saw all variety of wild flowers. I was amazed at the number of different trilliums. Silly me, I thought there was only white.....

There are many varieties.  I probably saw 15 different ones at Black Rock Mountain State Park in Georgia one spring when we were there at the right time of the year.

Here is another image from the Tremont area that I forgot to include with the previous set.  This was a tough to get photo.  After scrambling down a 20 foot near cliff, I waded out into chest deep high current river waters and wedged my tripod into rocks so it wouldn't move..... :-) Um... ah.... actually I saw it as I was driving by.  Stopped.  The 20 feet down is about right, but I was able to climb on to a large rock to get this perspective.  Didn't get wet at all.  I'm actually thinking of reprocessing it.  I'm still not completely satified with it.  Let me know if  you enjoy it.

Our crabapple tree was in full bloom when we got back from our trip out west.  Had to snap off a few.

While I was waiting on the sunsets I posted earlier, I played around with long exposures. This is one of them. Taken at Ft. Pickens.

I also visited Roaring Fork. I was a little concerned because there was a lot of downfall, both natural and sawn. Looked kinda trashy. But as I got to the stream area, I started seeing images with good potential. I was also racing the sun - it was out in full force and causing all kinds of hotspots. I was finished the here by 8:30 am. The sun was too much by then. Hope you enjoy these.

+James Kiedinger The best I could tell they were all kinds of trees. It looked to me like they were cutting them down because they were close to the road and either already had storm damage or had the potential to fall in the road. Not really sure. They sure cut down a lot of trees though. Makes it look kind of junky with all those fresh cut stumps and all the trunks and branches laying everywhere.

I spent nearly a whole day in the Tremont area of GSMNP. It actually helped that it was raining off and on throughout the day - the muted light was really nice. I simply put on a rain poncho and kept on looking. The dogwoods were in full bloom and the streams/creeks that run through the area - Middle, Upper, and Lynn Camp prongs of the Little River have so many beautiful scenes to capture. The first two images are two separate compositions with the same dogwood tree. If you care to comment, please let me know if you like one over the other. I just want to know.....  And thanks for all the compliments!!

While in the GSMNP last week, I took a hike up to Spruce Flats Falls.  Sure don't know how the Flats name got in there, because it was a 450/500 ft vertical climb in the one mile to the falls!  This old guy was huffing a bit when he got there.  Anyways, it was raining fairly steadily throughout the hike.  Here is a couple of perspectives of the falls.

Went out to spend some time with my son, who lives in Dallas.  From there we went to Guadalupe National Park, which is also known for its dark skies.  Tried some night photography.  I'm also posting because I want to see how it looks here.  Posted on Facebook and it looks nothing like what I see on my monitor.  Trying another site for comparison purposes.

Yes I do. And I convert to sRGB before upping to web. It just looks a lot different on my own monitor.

X marks the spot.  I took this image at the same location earlier, the clouds were still forming up and there was this neat X shape in the clouds.
