>>>5 STAR SERVICE<<< Our very thorough 5 star service picks up things that just an oil and filter change doesn't. It was good management that the customer concerned decided to book in with us before he did a trip down to Wellington. If this Cam Belt had broken it could have caused over $5000 worth of damage to his car. The worst case scenario when an engine totally shuts down while driving creates a situation where power assistance to the steering and boosted brake assistance would have failed. When this is not expected it could cause a serious accident. Paying for a 5 star service every 10,000 km's or 12 months whichever comes first, helps to ensure your personal safety and is most definitely value for money in the long run. www.automotivesolutionshn.co.nz

Every 100,000 km's or the distance/time specified by the vehicle manufacturer, it is important to change your cambelt to avoid a serious engine failure. It is recommended that the water pump is also changed at the same time as a cambelt is replaced. The reason for this is quite often pre-cautionary and can help reduce your overall running costs.
The water pump is a component that wears out, and a cooling system failure can cause a complete failure of the engine. If the water pump was to fail a short time after the cambelt was replaced, then the same components would need to be removed from the engine and the same amount of labour used to replace the pump; this is not cost effective.

Did you buy a car with issues? Occasionally we have a customer who is unhappy with the cost of repairs or maintenance on their vehicle. They may have rushed to buy it because it was cheap, or it fitted the style of vehicle they want to be seen in. Some cars will always cost more than others to service and repair, and some will have known issues. Because we have over 50 years between us in the trade, we can recommend a vehicle if you are thinking of buying one, but need to budget for the maintenance/repairs. We also do pre-purchase checks which have a value of $150; however, if we think it's a lemon before the $150 has been used, we stop and let you know - we don't keep inspecting. www.automotivesolutionshn.co.nz

Oil Aging and Degradation: Why do I need to change the oil?
The reason is two-fold:
To drain out oil that is no longer useable.
To drain out any build-up of contamination.
Oil will age irrespective of whether it is used or not. In fact, short trips in cold weather will harm the oil more than extended motorway trips will. www.automotivesolutionshn.co.nz

It is very important that you get your vehicle wheels aligned to maximise the lives of your tyres as much as possible. Tyres that have not been aligned properly are more prone to excessive tyre wear and will result in you having to change your tyres a lot more regularly, resulting in costs that are unnecessary. You will be able to tell if your wheels have not been aligned correctly when the vehicle will not move straight when the steering wheel is not being held. If this occurs, give us a call, as it could lead to some problems with your vehicle such as problems with your suspension and vibrations when you are driving. www.automotivesolutionshn.co.nz
