I just sent this email to the CEO of Untied Airlines, Jeff Smisek, here is his email address in case you too want o send him a note- jeff.smisek@united.com

Jeff,

You don't mind if I call you Jeff I feel I know you from how many times I have seen you tell me of the wonders of United Airlines on the PSA's before we take off.

I wish I had as positive a feeling about the reality of United as you tell me I should. To be frank if I could I would change airlines. More and more the changes you have made that effect me as a frequent flyer, frequently after they have been made and not notified about, cause me to want to look somewhere else.

From not allowing me to use the money I spend on my United Chase card (my wife and I share this card, we put it in on her FF#) toward the ridiculous qualification for Primer status, you fly miles should get the status, simple math, or the latest dropping from three bags to two without sending an email out. Which comes across to me as a sneaky money grab for 300.00 because you are at the gate what are you going to do. You can send me 15 emails telling me my flight is delayed, something I already know when United sends out the email, that would be because I am experiencing that event in real time. But something that affects me in the future and will possibly cost me money? that would be way too much work.

The loss of a realistic upgrade to first because you sell that privilege now. Not to mention the canceled flights, the out right untruths and utter lack of competence caused by the severe morale problem your airline has within the rank and file I deal with at ground level. I have never heard a kind word about working for United since the merger or truth be told about what your ground people feel about your tenure as the guy on the top.

I don't feel valued as a customer, what I feel is that I treated as a commodity that just is not going anywhere. The lack of competence across the entire spectrum of your world wide system has caused me to miss meetings with the President of Myanmar, over 3,000.00 in damage to gear in the past 2 years, 39 flights in a row being delayed for equipment to not having a crew, watching my camera bag thrown from the cargo hold, when I have no choice but to gate check it, and hit the tarmac (twice) once with the head of the baggage for Denver standing next to me and when I pitch a bitch about this the response was "what are you gonna do? You can file a complaint but United won't cover the damage" delays up to 15 hours, which has caused me to have to add an extra day in my travels to get to my destinations because I can't count on the flight not being canceled because of poor maintenance or not have a crew.

The main reason I still stick with United was at my status 3 bags 70lbs (down from 75lbs before you took over control of the company). I have flown over a million miles with United. I have proven loyal to United. What I can say is this about United from experience, your airline really does not care about me, it lies frequently and does everything it can to find shady ways to make money off of me.

I guess on the golf course from the top down you get a lot "atta boy Jeff" for the way to do business! But from those of us who fly your airline, frequent flyers do talk to each other whilst suffering through the United experience. What is said about the experience from the ground up generally starts with " What a..."

It is a sorry state of affairs when one of your most senior Frequent Flyer member's when ask for a airline recommendation suggests flying Delta and when ask why do you fly United the answer was "3 bags 70lbs. Certainly not the service." Way to go in yet another move that can just be perceived at best as more greed, you have removed 1/3 of of why I fly your airline. But you did almost scam 300.00 out of me. Why not try better service to get customers to want to fly United, not shake down the ones you know are hard pressed to go some place else.

Left United long ago... Was thinking perhaps things had improved - apparently they've gotten worse.

One of the great joys of street shooting is photographing children. Nothing warms the heart more than the smile of a child.
I shot this image during my February 2015 Palm Beach Photographic Workshop to Cuba. This image was shot in Havana. Once again only brought two cameras to the workshop and three lenses. The cameras the amazing Nikon D750 and and a Nikon D800 modified (by lifepixel.com) to capture infrared. The Lenses were the equally amazing and versatile Nikkor 28-300mm (AKA "the Street sweeper), Nikkor 80-400mm Nano and the Nikkor 80-400mm Nano coated lenses. This image was captured with my Nikkor 70-200mm and my modified D800 infrared camera.Post processing was done with Capture NX-D (Raw processing) Photoshop CC 2014, onOne Perfect Suite and Nik Collection Software.© Vincent Versace 2015#NikonAmbassador ‪#‎Westcott‬ ‪#‎D800‬ ‪#‎lexar‬ ‪#‎kelbyone‬ ‪#‎photography‬ ‪#‎xritephoto‬@NikonUSA#NikonNoFilter‪#‎niksoftware‬#nikonUSA ‪#‎Epson‬ ‪#‎wacom‬ ‪#‎xrite‬ ‪#‎onone‬ ‪#‎Cuba‬ ‪#‎PBPW‬ #lifepixel.com ‪#‎fineartphotography‬

This is an image I recently shot of the actor Bruce Gray. Bruce was the very first "real deal" actor I did head shots for back in the day.  I mean Bruce is a movie star.... I was fresh out of USC and just hung up my shingle. After I gave bruce my sing and dance about "how to create emotionally based headshots" etc. he gave me a look like "really kid? You gotta be kidding. I've been doing this since Christ was a corporal" I said to him, scared sh*tless of the guy, "just let me have control of your instrument for round" ("instrument"is how you refer to an actor in an acting situation) so he said "okay" and just like that he had me over the keys and was let me drive. What a ride! What is even better is that we became friends.

As you know, as I have said so my self, I am a man of great humility, AND as I have previously stated I am the world's foremost expert on shooting fog you know there is little exaggeration. I grew up in fog and I spend most of waking hours in a fog. SO when it comes to fog I know what I am talking about. I shot this on the way back from Yosemite to Los Angeles. This is from a side street in San Louis Obisbo right after filling up for gas. Fog seem to follow me.

Throw Back Thursday!

This is the the Dream team of shooters from the Eco Challenge 2000 Borneo Adventure Race!

Kevin Gilbert, Porter Binks, Reed Hoffman, and me. I was the weakest link of the bunch.  What a blast that was. The reason I'm not smiling? I brushed my teeth with the local tap water.

If you know me well you tyhat I am a man of great humility, so when I say I am the world's foremost expert on shooting fog you know there is little exaggeration. I grew up in fog and I spend most of waking hours in a fog. SO when it comes to fog I know what I am talking about. Big weather is rare in Los Angles. With fog being a state of mind not an atmospheric occurrence, so when it happens in front of your eyes instead of your mind in LA, at sunset, you go find an iconic building and by golly you go and photograph it. My studio is in Silver Lake. Hence the beeline to the Griffith Park observatory. Well driving around like a head with it's chicken cut off trying find just "the right spot" sometimes you get lucky. This was one of those times.

Another image of my most recent "Answering the Call of the Fog" treks to the city by the bay. Whenever I am "home" I always make it a point to go to China Town. Back in the day it was to get bowl of noodles at Sam Wo's, before the health department had enough with the place... This image was captured on my way to the Chinese Doctor that I have been going to since I was 22 years old. Sometimes somethings and some places can become paused in time. AND sometimes in some places you can photograph a glimpse of that timelessness.

Another image of the Golden Gate Bridge during my most recent  "Answering the Call of the Fog" treks to the city by the bay. I have been going here for years and never once "saw" this even though I have seen it many, many many times. The lesson I have learned from this life long exercise is that there is always a new and different way to see the same thing.
