Until the war, 60 per cent of the population of Konskie — around 6,000 people — were Jewish. Another 3,000 Jews from other areas were transported there when the town was designated a ghetto. Nearly all were exterminated in 1942.

Commemorating Jewish Mass Graves in Poland
Introduction
Today some elderly Polish people are sharing details of Jewish mass murders and burials they witnesses as teenagers during the Holocaust.
Plagued for decades by the gruesome scenes they beheld, Safeguarding Memory, narrated by Theodore Bikel, relays a few of these stories as told to the individuals who are gathering this information and erecting dignified commemoration monuments to the slaughtered innocents on these sacred spots.
