Ok, so here's the deal: I am going to re-open Design By Firgs for the following services - Business Consultation, Guest Writing, and Web Advertisement Design ONLY.

Logos, branding, and website design, are still out for now due to the neck injury.

Consultation is by appointment only and for one hour at a time only. Rates TBD.

So if you think this is a good idea, let me know what I can do to help and spread the word - Firgs is back in business. :)

Hey all! I am looking for designers and developers from India. I have a lovely lady that contacted me and is in need of help launching an eCommerce website in India. From what I can tell, she is in need of a marketing consultant, a brand identity designer, and a UI developer that know and understand the community of India. I am not this person.

Does anyone know of someone that fits this description and can help her out?

Let me know! Thanks much!

Still hanging in there. I refuse to give up! #stupidneckinjury

The "Firgs" side of me may be temporarily (I hope only temporarily) taking time off from the world of tech and design, but SHE'S NOT DEAD. She's still there and she still has a voice and a strong mind and hasn't forgotten how to use either of them! My "ass-kicking" boots may be dusty, but they still fit. ;)

When I'm stressed and don't feel well, usually I will illustrate marbles from scratch. This one took me several nights working on it one hour at a time, in bed, surrounded by pillows. Yes, the neck is still out of commission. No, this does not mean that I am able to come back to work yet. Just trying to release a little bit of pent up design energy.

Three months into this neck issue and not being able to design is starting to take it's toll on me. Designing brings me so much joy and it's where my passion for life stems from. It feeds me, drives me, and makes me feel alive. Without it, I feel like a huge piece of me is missing and I haven't been able to find something to fill it's place so far until the neck/ arm pain issues can be fixed (which from the looks of things, isn't going to be any time soon).

I saw this show the other day where two people were talking about what they would do if their career passions (in this case food and music) were ever taken away from them and they both agreed that they had no idea what they would do. But, the general consensus was that something like that could/would never happen to them or it was just too awful for them to even consider.

Now I'm here. Considering it because I have to. I have to find a new source for passion. Maybe temporarily, maybe permanently. I don't know yet. But I'm here to tell you, that it is possible, it does happen, and you too should consider it.

Moral of the story is: Take time to explore. Say yes more often. Try things even if you are afraid. Leave your comfort zone. Be flexible. Be aware. Test your talents. Embrace life. Because you just never know what is going to happen.

I know that I have been pretty quiet on here lately due to my neck injury. While I am still dealing with that and am not back to posting full time here, I am going to take a moment to voice my opinion on the Next Adobe Evangelist competition. It's just that important to me.

My vote is going to Erik R - better known as the owner of If you have never been to TipSquirrel, you are missing out. It is a wealth of Photoshop information with articles and tutorials not only from Erik, but also from a bunch of the top Photoshop and Photography instructors in the industry.

So if you are on Facebook (which is where they are holding the voting), please take a minute to stop by the Adobe Photoshop page and check out Erik's video on making a "Quick and Easy Line Drawing With Divide Blend Mode". If you enjoy it, then please cast a vote for him.

Votes are reset every day from now until the 23rd (that's the day after tomorrow) so if you can, please stop by each day.

Thank you. Hope to see y'all and be back soon!

Oh - and if you could share this post for me too, that would be great! Thanks! :D

So I've been kind of quiet lately. The reason why is that I've been dealing with a herniated disk in my neck that went out a few weeks ago. Everything was going fine with my treatment until last night when a second disk herniated. This one is more severe than the first and it's causing neurological damage to my arms. Not sure where I'm going from here, but I'm probably about to disappear from the Interwebs for a while.

On the up side, I got a really cool picture out of the deal.
