About time this is addressed.

I love this article! It's not perfect, and it critiques some of fandom's most sacred films/shows, but if we are to make progress, we need to acknowledge that some of our favorite movies/shows, etc. do have their weaknesses. We all have our own blind spots regarding gender roles.
I often feel like as we're making great strides conquering sexism against women, but the ways in which the patriarchy harms men is laughed off and ignored, sometimes even by people who believe in the equality of the genders.

From my perspective, equal doesn't just mean "A woman should be able/allowed to do anything a man can do" but also "A man should be able/allowed to do anything a woman can do." (Applied to the entire gender spectrum, of course.) And this cultural phenomenon that many people are deeming "toxic masculinity" or machismo is what stands in the way of true equality.

You’d think patriarchy would be good for men, but it isn’t. Patriarchy enforces strict standards of masculinity that are impossible to meet. But because masculine traits are glorified, it’s easy to lose sight of how toxic they are to men. As ...

A great image from +George Fletcher

"Rainy days and Mondays always get me down"

A week ago my daughter and I drove up to Indiana Dunes State Park to check out the dunes and see lake Michigan. I think my daughter was thinking about a day at the beach and I was thinking cool sand dunes with shadows and curves. What we found were dreary skies, stinging flies, biting misquotes and dunes covered in trees. The "ghost" in this shot is my daughter as we started the walk back to the parking lot. I think I'll need to do more research before we go back again:)

Happy Monday!

P.S. I'm guessing that song dates me a bit ;-)

Wow.

St. Bartholomäus Cathedral

For this image I wanted a dark and moody feel with strong contrasts. I started with a 5 shot hand held HDR set and then did the B&W processing in Nik Silver Efex. I can see a few HDR artifacts but overall I like the effect. I didn't bring my tripod as this would have been a great place for some long exposure shots:)

Introduction
I am an easy going person, mostly.  I have little toleration for stupidity and hate.  Please note there is a difference between ignorance and stupidity.  I like to write, participate in social media, and express my opinions (mostly politely unless necessary otherwise).  I do not tolerate those well that mouth off about things if they have not done their research first.  I get along well with well-rounded people.  Education is a good thing but not a determinate factor in the greatness of a person.  I value life but hunt and fish, although not for sport.  I love woodworking and am trying to add more tools to my arsenal.  Paying for school puts a dent in how much I am able to do but life is still fun anyway.

Although the prices are a bit high the food is wonderful and comes in large quantities. I would like to see lunch portions sold. Overall it was excellent, tasty and timely for the rush that filled the place.

I eat here a few times a month with co-workers. We are all very picky and find the food to be very good. It is always fresh, tasty, and the lunch price is very good.

I ate here for the first time today. I had the lunch box with hot green tea. Food was excellent and service was quick and friendly. I look forward to eating here again and as a good place for dinner on the weekend.

I ate there two months back. I was reminded of this place and thought I should give a rating. Service was poor, facilities are shambling in many spots, food was the most bland I have ever had. Would not recommend at all.
