As a web developer, these continual "free business website" ads running on msnbc are like fingers on chalkboard.

Free for a month, and then a low cost maintenance fee (more then likely for a wordpress theme you could have tossed together yourself after watching a tutorial or two)

Interesting to watch the collective sigh in the sports and Philadelphia media with regard to Vick.  After choosing to aggrandize his comeback in the sense of a returning hero, his performances have diminished to less then expectations and there seems to be a growing subtext of guilt as to the overall undertaking.  To me, Vick's dog torture for sport is unforgivable and he should never have been allowed to return to the mantle of earning ludicrous cash for entertaining us.  Every down of play I have watched since with Vick at command has only carried wishes of bodily harm and career ending injuries.  Perhaps better will be a slow decline, replacement, and fade into ignominy.  Sad that we had to fund him with a $100 million dollar golden parachute.

First encounter with Mexi-Coke today... non high-fructose variant sold in old-school style bottles.  If only I drank soda could have done a taste test of my own.
Nearly 30 years ago, Coca-Cola switched over from sugar to high-fructose corn syrup to sweeten America's beloved carbonated soft drink. With corn subsidized by the government, its sugary syrup became a more affordable option for the beverage company.

Spent the past 2 days working a mitigation here in beautiful Nederland, Colorado with these folks at Saws & Slaws.   Neighbors helping Neighbors is an old tradition, but seems to be found less and less in today's world.

SOMETHING TO PONDER: George Carlin

George Carlin's wife died early in 2008 and George followed her, dying in July 2008. It is ironic George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent and so very appropriate. An observation by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.

Remember to spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

And always remember, life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by those moments that take our breath away.

George Carlin

Seems to me like a pretty good fade to nothing happened today against the Giants.  From my reading on Vick's contract the Eagles will be dumping early, he could still be in the red with his creditors when its all said and done.  Couldn't have happened to a more deserving dude. :)

Just too funny when +The Rachel Maddow Show  starts riffing on the "rape commenter" GOP'ers and how "creepy" things get when people started making them explain their stances.

Interestingly, at the polling place here in Nederland, Colorado voters had the option of using a voting machine or a paper ballot.  During our ten minute (hallelujah for small mountain towns) pass through the polling place, of approximately a dozen voters, only a single one used the machine. #Election2012

Just left Wild mountain - my advice head across the street to first street pub who have consistently better food and service. If you don't take that advice, whatever you do don't order the 'like butter' prime rib. Tasted like it was microwaved from frozen, far past the medium rare that was both requested and promoted on the menu. What's worse is we both ordered the same dish and temperature and received the same trash. Oddly enough they discounted only one when we both opted to return the dish after choking down perhaps a quarter of each. Over rated tourist trap.

Pleasant surprise. Good pad Thai, have now gotten both eat-in and take-out. Careful with the Thai hot option, on its own there is a fair bit of spice. Suggest sirachi to taste.

Great little used book store in Ned which also just happens to have tasty ice cream and coffee. Shelves are full of character and hidden treasures and you can say much the same about the ice cream freezers.
