My step-by-step instructions for how to create a LEGO animated movie with your iPhone and the iTimelapse app. I created these instructions for a demo of this I did at Legopalooze in Chapel Hill NC last week.
We all know that you can scan them and the various things they can do from there, but and I were talking at lunch a few days ago and wondered how they work from a technical standpoint. The Wikipedia article below has some great examples to show how they're read and interpreted.
In addition, I had been wondering how companies were able to stick logos and other graphics in the middle of their code, and as explained, it's due to the built-in error correction in them. As long as you don't eat up more than ~30% of the code (and especially not the position elements), you can overwrite chunks of the code with your logo and it'll still work.
As you would expect, it's an 8-bit system; eight of the "modules" are combined to form a single character. What's interesting is the order in which they're read. I assumed it was straight across and/or down, but it sort of jumps around a bit.
Anyhow, the Wikipedia page for QR codes is quite interesting, as they're rather complex when you dig in deep.
What we call chaos is just patterns we haven't recognized. What we call random is just patterns we can't decipher. What we can't understand we call nonsense. What we can't read we call gibberish. There is no free will. There are no variables.
