We play Heron Lakes often and have for several years. They have made vast improvements on the course in the last year but it could use some more. The greens are much better than since they installed better drainage. This is a VERY tight course and accuracy is the one thing you HAVE to have or you will be hunting for golf balls all day. The course is short by anyone's standards, but for us slightly older guys and gals that makes the game that much more fun. Could they do better? YES, of course. Little things would help. They have drainage problems when it rains a lot. They fight weeds on the green, but is getting better. For the price of a round of golf, this is a pretty good course. If you want a great course, pay triple your cost to play Heron and move along.

Worst golf course ever! I did not know that Houston had swamps, much less golf courses build in them. From the tips, this golf course has a par 5 that is 377 yards. What a joke! Greens were more crab grass than green. If these were replaced in the spring, it is a shame that they were allowed to get this bad this quickly. We agreed to an automatic 2-putt on the second hole. To add to the experience, I rented clubs for $40 and they gave me lady's sticks and refused to refund the money. Don't pay the money! Find a Putt-Putt course before you play this one.

THIS IS NOT A REAL GOLF COURSE! Do not let Heron Lakes be confused with an actual golf course. . .it is a joke and the fact that they actually charge 40 bucks to play on a weekend is a slap in the face to golf. Without a doubt this is the biggest joke of a course I've ever been to. Went to practive after work one day, paid $12 and I feel like I was raped in the &^$. I left after 10 holes, thinking it would get better. They claim they have par fives, however when you're pitching in to the green ( or what I could only guess is the green being there was a flag half way sticking up out of the ground) after your drive, you clearly arent on a par five now are you! The fairways are non existant, the greens look like your backyard, but more than all of that, it's just not a real golf course. . .Heron Lakes is a dog turd. Anyone who states differently is just not a golfer or is just a moron, but probably both. Please see Alyson's review. . .joker.

I recently played here for the first time on Sunday 7/19/15. I was definitely expecting worse, based on the reviews, and ended up playing at a well maintained golf course. I never saw high grass or crappy greens as a few mentioned below. The reason I gave it 3 stars was because there weren't many par 5s. infound the course to be very tight; it definitely will help bring my accuracy up!

The greens were like a 60's porn (Untrimmed) and there was a LOT of water in the fairways. Good things about the course, it's cheap, no one bothers you and you can blame the score card on something other than yourself….

I will not to play there anymore for the following reasons: 1. very hard fairway, no difference to rough; 2. super poor green, tons of sand and no grass!!! 3. very hard land for tee off area, you need to "drill" tee into ground. 4. poor maintance, very poor condition. However, if you pay only $15, I think it is not big matter, but for $40, way too much.

course is ok, considering you pay only $18.00 for a round
