Lots of people, even seekers interested in spirituality aren’t really sure what enlightenment even is, so here's, what I hope is a simple definition.

Enlightenment is usually defined as awakening to our true nature. Our true nature is that we are more than just physical bodies, we are eternal reincarnational energy beings. An integral aspect of our nature is that, at our core, like the Buddhists say, “the ground of being is good”. This means that the Source Energy, the Life Force, God, whatever you call it, is a positively oriented unified field and we’re an aspect of it. It's what we are made of. Consequently there is nothing to fear or defend against (why defend against your good self) and we learn to relax and enjoy the ride. First we understand this intellectually. Eventually when we get it on an experiential level we can sink deeper in to our experience of the present, and explore and be what we are at a deeper level, i.e. our true nature.

That's my understanding of enlightenment. If you agree, have a comment, or have another definition of enlightenment please share it.

You need not do anything.
Remain sitting at your table and listen.
You need not even listen, just wait.
You need not even wait,
just learn to be quiet, still and solitary.
And the world will freely offer itself to you unmasked.
It has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.

-Franz Kafka from his poem, "Learn to Be Quiet."

Emotions work by association. That scary event reminds me of that other scary event which gets filed next to the previous scary event, etc. So all of our present day fears become associated with the mother of all original fears––our basic fear of not surviving. These ancient, instinctual fears that we share with our animal ancestors have been passed down through our cells, genes, and politicians to affect us even today. We carry childhood “survival fears” into adulthood, created when a parent got angry at us and we feared they might not continue to care for us. Children are not physically or emotionally capable of coping with the intensity of fears of dying so they protect themselves by avoiding and therefore storing the emotion.
The result of habitually avoiding and repressing feelings eventually become an uncomfortable experience of our body. Thankfully, these stored fears need only to be processed out of the body. According to bioenergetics and other body-oriented psychotherapies, this means simply feeling the feelings. Experiencing the emotion releases the stored energy and its influence. The physics are simple. When we resist a feeling energy, it remains stuck in the body, continually and subtly affecting the way we think, feel, and act. If we fully experience our feelings, they run their course and are gone, leaving us relaxed, with a clearer channel for the Life Force energies to flow through us.

            Life is funny.
Quirky funny.

There’s a Buddhist version of the story of Adam and Eve about a man in an empty room—empty, except for an incredibly beautiful piece of sculpture. He spends all his free time in the room because the sculpture gives him profound pleasure and joy. One day, he thinks maybe if he had another sculpture he'd be even happier. So he buys another beautiful piece of sculpture and puts it in the room and it does make him happier...for awhile. So, he gets another one, thinking it will make him at least as happy as he was before. That worked too—for awhile. To make a long parable short, the room eventually became so crowded with exquisite and beautiful art that the man couldn't experience the beauty of any one piece due to the distraction and clutter of the others. Eventually, he throws out all but the original and lives happily ever after.
This is  a story about the universe and the creation of physical reality. Supposedly, once upon a time, before time, we were all one blissed-out energy field when some wise guy got the idea that maybe there's something better and bingo: poverty, pollution, and politicians. It's kind of like the human race got caught up in a bad dream and forgot it was dreaming. We keep coming back, lifetime after lifetime, trying to figure it out. We seem to know there's something or someplace else and some of us are trying to get back there, or here, or wherever it is.

I never thought about having a ministry. I just didn’t think of it that way.  I do feel compelled, passionate about sharing certain psycho-spiritual information because of the good it can do.  I guess that is what ministry is, at least to me.  On the psychological level I want to disseminate information about emotions and self-esteem.  These are the basic tools to emotional health and essential for spiritual growth as well as enjoying life.   But more importantly, on the spiritual level I want to help people get that (like the Buddhists say) the Ground of Being is Good, All is One, we are part of an benevolent unified field, and there is absolutely nothing to fear.  For me, to keep my mission and purpose simple, I use the affirmation “Be the Love, spread the Love.”

Background --  raised Catholic but questioned many aspects of the religion.  Went from God fearing, to being agnostic, to atheist, all the while reading and researching, driven to find out the answers to the bigger questions of life and what the hell was really going on.  By following basic rules of science and logic it eventually became clear that there is a positively orient unified field of energy.  There is just too much evidence to discount.   A benevolent Universal Life Force (God),  exists and we’re part of it.  As eternal energy beings that are part of an all loving, all forgiving Universal Life Force/God it became clear to me that  there is nothing to truly fear or defend against.        This news is worth spreading.

The Big Bang
"when we look out into space in any direction from our planet we see the beginning of time..."
I remember when I was young we were taught that the universe was infinite, but now we know that’s not true – it has edges, boundaries, and those boundaries are the moment of creation.  It seems that our physical dimension was created at the moment of the big bang (quite possibly at the moment that the ego split off, and created this physical dimension, when we left the garden of Eden).  Astronomers can, in essence, ‘see’, the explosion that started our universe.  Amazingly, when we look out into space in any direction from our planet we see the beginning of time, the explosion of the big bang moving away from us as the universe expands.   If we are this three dimensional physical universe what’s beyond its’ boundaries?
