Week 13 of the Genealogy Do-Over - Recap
Thomas MacEntee started this 13 weeks ago and I'm probably still on week 2 or 3. citing sources. In doing so, I found small details I overlooked but it's interesting how much more I know about my family from the little pieces. My grandparents lived in Billi...

Wk6 Genealogy Do-Over - Smug people should not do genealogy
My grandfather is William Ogden Rhea. He was born in Tennessee and died in Montana. He was born in 1882 and died in April of 1962. He lived on a farm and worked for the railroad. I know everything I need to know about my grandfather and so I added all the r...

Genealogy Do-Over - Week Three - What I learned from the "Real" Genealogists
I have played with everyone's research logs. Some I like, some I find difficult, and some have great features I wish were all incorporated into one. In the many (many, many) years I have worked with my family history, I have never tracked anything. The Do-O...

Week two of the Genealogy Do-Over - My car history from 1966 to 1968
As part of the Genealogy Do-Over , we were to write our personal history to use as a starting point for research. I started mine but got sidetracked. I have boxes and boxes of slides that I wanted to scan but had misplaced (read meaning "husband lost") the ...

Valentine Cards for "In-Be-Tweens"
The perfect Valentine's Day craft for tweens.  Valentine's Day for tweens is fraught with uncertainty. They are slightly too old to buy packaged Valentines to give to their classmates and yet, still want to be involved. They are slightly too young to have a...

A to Z Theme Reveal is today
This is easy. The Ancestor Photo Box is pictures of ancestors. They are not necessarily my ancestors but those of family friends and coworkers of my parents and other family members. Some don't have names, some do. Some I can identify by the location only. ...

Decided not to do the Family History Writing Challenge
I really thought it was possible to work on the Do-Over and do the challenge but find I'm feeling pushed and not doing a good job on either. So the Do-Over gets my full attention. Bit the bullet and ordered the birth certificate for my dad. Interesting, I c...

Week four - Genealogy Do-Over - Really? Can't we agree on a date?
With the citing of sources and learning the process, it has become very clear that it is no longer possible to ignore the birth dates differences for my father and my grandfather. My dad, Ernest Rhea and my grandpa, William Rhea, La Brea Tar Pits, October 1...

My grandpa was not a Redneck, at least not by the 1920's definition of the word.
The phrase "You might be a Redneck", popularized by Jeff Foxworthy and defined by Merriam-Webster as a "a white person who lives in a small town or in the country especially in the southern U.S, who typically has a working-cl...

Pulling out my already thinning hair! Do-Over day one of week one is much bigger than I thought.
The magic email from Thomas MacEntee arrived in my email at 9:00 pm last night. That must mean he's three hours ahead of me. I am in Southern California. I read through it and then read it again. No problem, I got this! Jumping out of bed this morning, I he...

A Day Without Genealoogy Is Like a Day Without Sunshine
Introduction
I am a California native, born in Los Angeles, Much of what I write is about California and camping. I am a grandparent raising a grandchild who recently became a teenager. We spend most of our time at baseball practice and games.

I am hooked on family history. They are no longer ancestors, they have become real people who had hopes and dreams just like me. I blog about the Yeakley/Jones family, the Rhea's and McCollum's, and my husband missing siblings (found 7, still looking for 5). He was adopted.

Bragging rights
Tracked down 7 of my husband's missing siblings. What an adventure!

I have nothing but praise for Dr. Rojo and his service. His attention to detail is amazing and I am enjoying my new smile. I have been back for adjustments to my new partials and each time it gets better. He took the time to explain why adjustments are necessary to get a great fit and to make an appointment any time I needed it. The staff is friendly and helpful. I make a point of telling my friends that this is the place to go if they are looking for a dentist who cares.

Great food and the restaurant staff is friendly. The same family owns the El Rey Motel that is well maintained. We enjoyed our stay there.
