It is a modest hotel at a modest price. My room was teeny, 1950s room with no design. It was either sit on the bed or go out. Fortunately, I did not come to sit in my room. The staff is very cordial. One of two creaky elevators was out of service. The lobby is inviting. The proximity to downtown icons and museums is the best part. Don't miss the coffee at the stand outside the Food Market on Hill St. Excellent.

Why don't hotels have a nightclub beneath them? Stay here and you will find out. You can sing along to new and old school hip hop and Rnb classics while enjoying the Base cranked up to full! The bed sheets haven't been changed since the 1980's just for good measure - avoid at all costs

After driving through the homeless capital of the U.S. (And possibly the world) we arrived at our hotel (much to my dismay) although the staff were pleasant and the hotel lobby attempted to lure you in to a false sense of security, I arrived in the cell of a hotel room (who needs a kitchenette?!! And by this I mean worktops, fridge & sink. No utensils or table in sight) the smell of dead wet dog was overpowering, and to make matters worse, the bathroom extractor fan sounded like a boaing 747 taking off, so airing out the room was a migrane-envoking task. I also had the displeasure of being located opposite floor 2's ice machine; which, when I was trying to sleep, may as well have been in the room with me. If it wasn't the bass from the horrendous club music it was the ice machine refilling. All in all if you don't want to ruin your trip with the intimidating location or the 3rd world accommodation don't bother wasting your money on this cesspit.

I left my room key in the room then the manager sent a housekeeper to check my belongs to identify me before giving me a new key. However, a $100 note flew from my wallet. It was my fault not to go with her to my room. I know nothing can stop you going into this hotel if you don't have much money and it offer you a good price. That is ok, since you don't have money for them to steal neither.

I hear people bagging on this hotel........ Keep in mind that it is not a 5 star establishment. I stay here once a year for Anime expo. The staff is professional and courteous..... The rooms are small......... The bar next door is loud, but the staff there is very friendly and will answer questions about the local area. I have NEVER had any problems with vagrants. If you want to save money , this is a good place to stay.

The Kawada is a great deal for its budget level price. It's clean, safe and the staff is super friendly and helpful. It's also located just blocks from the Disney Center, The Grand Central Market, the MOCA, the Broad and the metro. This is my go-to hotel in Downtown L.A. I stay here often. Pay a lot more and stay somewhere else if you want new and spacious rooms.

This hotel would have been perfect if it had the correct answers about parking vs their concierge 22.00 fee to park your car next door for you. The late night agent specifically told us to parkin the lot on the corner over night at it would be free. The next day we went to get our car and the lot tried to have our car towed. We talked to the female front desk agent who refused to give us the corporate number or get her manager and yelled at us calling us liars. The room ducked. Your better off at a motel 6 than this place. Sure the room is check but al the towing fees and other incidentals incurred could easily have placed us in a Hilton. Never go here. Horrible customer service.

Service was excellent; the front desk even had the kitchen make me something not on the menu when I was sick during my stay
